Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

@dawcore/spectrogram

Framework-agnostic spectrogram computation, Web Worker, and viewport-aware rendering orchestrator for the dawcore family.

Used by @dawcore/components (the Lit web component layer, behind <daw-track render-mode="spectrogram">) and @waveform-playlist/spectrogram (the React Provider).

Installation

npm install @dawcore/spectrogram

No peer dependencies. If you use @dawcore/components, you don't install this directly — it's a regular dependency of that package.

Quick Start

For rendering inside an app, use the worker and orchestrator instead of blocking the main thread:

The orchestrator renders in three tiers (visible viewport first, then a 25% overscan buffer, then the rest during idle time), aborts stale work when the viewport, config, or color map changes, and groups contiguous chunks so non-adjacent regions never trigger one oversized FFT.

  • @dawcore/spectrogramcomputeSpectrogram, computeSpectrogramMono, getColorMap, getFrequencyScale, computePaddedFftRange (pure window-padded, clip-clamped FFT sample-range math — shared with the React provider's chunk-range computation so both pipelines can't drift), worker factories (createSpectrogramWorker, createSpectrogramWorkerPool, SpectrogramAbortError), and the orchestrator re-exports
  • @dawcore/spectrogram/worker/spectrogram.worker — the Worker module URL target (resolve with new URL(..., import.meta.url))
  • @dawcore/spectrogram/orchestratorSpectrogramOrchestrator and helpers (classifyViewport, groupContiguousChunks, ColorLUTCache) without the computation/worker graph, for consumers with their own FFT pipeline
