Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.0.3

Minimal extension for image descriptions for vision-less models and an image generation tool for Pi

Readme

@deathbeam/pi-images

Describe images for vision-less models and generate images with the image_generate tool.

Installation

# Choose one:
pi install npm:@deathbeam/pi-images # this package
pi install git:github.com/deathbeam/pi-packages # all my packages

Usage

Vision handoff runs automatically: when the current model cannot see images and images.vision is set, every image in the conversation (read results, pasted attachments) is described by the vision model and replaced with a [Image description: ...] text block. Descriptions are cached per image for the process lifetime, so each image is described once until pi is restarted.

Image generation is the image_generate tool: generate images from a prompt, or edit input image files from the working directory. Generated images are returned as attachments and saved to images.outputDir (default .pi/images).

Configuration

Optional images settings live in ~/.pi/agent/settings.json or .pi/settings.json:

{
    "images": {
        "vision": "anthropic/claude-haiku-4-5",
        "generate": "inferhub/cb/gemini-3.0-pro-image",
        "outputDir": ".pi/images"
    }
}

vision and generate are provider/model-id strings (the model id is free-form and may contain slashes). Either feature is off while its key is unset: without vision images pass through as Pi sends them, and image_generate fails with instructions. The provider must be known to Pi (it must have at least one registered model and a configured API key). The image request then goes to the provider's registered baseUrl/api when it has one, or to its first registered model's, and is shaped accordingly (OpenAI-compatible /images/generations, Google generateContent, or OpenRouter chat completions).

Project settings override global ones.

Development

From this package directory:

npm install
npm test
pi install .
