Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

  • Interactive Dots: Scattered dots with spring animations

  • Responsive Design: Works across different screen sizes

Installation

npm run dev

For Use in Other React Projects

  1. Build the library:
npm run build
  1. Copy the dist folder to your React project's public directory or serve it from your project.

  2. Install required dependencies in your React project:

npm install framer-motion react react-dom

Usage

Method 1: Direct Import (Recommended)

import React from 'react';
import AnimatedInteractiveDiagram from './path/to/dist/animated-interactive-diagram.es.js';

function App() {
  return (
    <div className="App">
      <AnimatedInteractiveDiagram />
    </div>
  );
}

export default App;

Method 2: UMD Build

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <script src="https://unpkg.com/react@18/umd/react.development.js"></script>
  <script src="https://unpkg.com/react-dom@18/umd/react-dom.development.js"></script>
  <script src="https://unpkg.com/framer-motion@12/dist/framer-motion.js"></script>
  <script src="./dist/animated-interactive-diagram.umd.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
  <div id="root"></div>
  <script>
    const { AnimatedInteractiveDiagram } = window.AnimatedInteractiveDiagram;
    ReactDOM.render(
      React.createElement(AnimatedInteractiveDiagram),
      document.getElementById('root')
    );
  </script>
</body>
</html>

Animation Timeline

The diagram animates automatically with the following sequence:

  1. Lines Drawing (0.5s - 1.3s): Connecting lines draw with staggered delays
  2. Dots Appearing (1.0s - 1.35s): Scattered dots animate in with spring effects
  3. Text Labels (2.5s - 3.1s): Text labels fade in with delays
  4. Icons (2.7s - 4.5s): Icons appear with hover effects
  5. Loading Animation (4.5s+): Continuous pulsing effect on center dot

Customization

The component uses CSS custom properties for theming:

:root {
  --stroke-0: black;
  --fill-0: #D9D9D9;
  --fill-1: #DF5530;
  --fill-2: #E6795D;
}

Build Output

The build creates two formats:

  • ES Module (animated-interactive-diagram.es.js): For modern bundlers
  • UMD (animated-interactive-diagram.umd.js): For direct browser use

Dependencies

  • React 18+
  • React DOM 18+
  • Framer Motion 12+

Development

npm run dev # Start development server
npm run build # Build for production
npm run preview # Preview production build
