Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Quick Start

# Using npx (recommended)

Requirements

  • Node.js >= 16.0.0
  • MongoDB (local or remote)

Getting Started

  1. Create your project:

    npx @dharun_r/create-fullstack-app my-app
  2. Install dependencies:

    cd my-app
    npm run install:deps
  3. Set up MongoDB:

    • Start your MongoDB server
    • Update connection string in backend/.env
  4. Start development servers:

    npm run dev
  5. Create a test user:

    • Navigate to http://localhost:5173/register
    • Register with email and password
    • You will be automatically logged in

Environment Variables

Backend (.env)

PORT=3000
MONGODB_URI=mongodb://localhost:27017/your-database
JWT_SECRET=your-secret-key

Frontend (.env)

VITE_API_URL=http://localhost:3000

Available Scripts

In the root directory:

  • npm run install:deps - Install dependencies for both frontend and backend
  • npm run dev - Start both frontend and backend in development
  • npm run dev:frontend - Start only frontend
  • npm run dev:backend - Start only backend
  • npm run build - Build for production
  • npm start - Start production server
