Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CLI for diagrams-ts

Readme

@diagrams-ts/cli

A CLI to render diagrams-ts functions.

Prerequisites

In a typescript project

If you run this from within a project with typescript, you can add the CLI with

npm install -D @diagrams-ts/cli

# or when using yarn

yarn add -D @diagrams-ts/cli

If you plan to use the "CLI" renderer you'll need to have graphviz installed and in your path.

The function needs to be exported as the default export of the provided function file.

Global

You can also add the CLI globally:

npm install @diagrams-ts/cli -g

# or when using yarn

yarn global add @diagrams-ts/cli

If you want to use the CLI outside of a typescript project you'll need to run it with the --stand-alone/-a flag.

In order for the stand-alone mode to work you'll need to set the path to the global modules folder :

export DIAGRAMS_GLOBAL_MODULES=$(npm root -g)

# or

export DIAGRAMS_GLOBAL_MODULES=$(yarn global bin)/node_modules

Usage

render

You can use the render command to create image output from the command line.

diagrams-ts render my-graph.ts

Outside of a typescript project you'll need to add the -a (stand-alone) flag:

diagrams-ts render my-graph.ts -a

This will create an SVG called my-graph.ts.

If you want to create a binary image you'll need to run it with the CLI renderer and pre-fetch all images:

diagrams-ts render my-graph.ts --renderer "CLI" --format "jpg" --local-images

In order to see a description of all options you can use the -h flag

dot

You can use the dotcommand to create output in dot format:

diagrams-ts dot test-graph.ts

# You can for example use the output to directly create the image with dot:

diagrams-ts dot test-graph.ts -i | dot -Tpng -otest-graph.png
