Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Dialob Fill React

This package provides convenience methods for interacting with Dialob Fill sessions through React.

Components:

  • <Session session={session} locale={locale}/> where session is a session object created through @dialob/fill-api library and locale is optional prop to override filling session locale. Can be changed during filling.

Hooks:

  • useFillActions() returns actions that let you modify the session
  • useFillItem(id) pulls the item and its errors with the given id from the session and keeps it updated
  • useFillValueSet(id) pulls the value set with the given id from the session and keeps it updated
  • useFillUpdate(session => console.log(session.getLocale())) runs the given callback every time the session updates
  • useFillVariable(id) pulls the value of the context or expression variable with the given id from the session and keeps it updated. Result can be undefined if variable value is not known.

Deprecated:

  • ~~useFillSession() returns the fill API session object~~

Install

yarn add @dialob/fill-react @dialob/fill-api

Migration from 2.x

  • Change dependencies: @resys/dialob-fill-api -> @dialob/fill-api and @resys/dialob-fill-react -> @dialob/fill-react
  • yarn install
  • Change imports accordingly

Quick-start

import React, { useMemo } from 'react';
import DialobFill from '@dialob/fill-api';
import { Session, useFillActions, useFillItem, useFillValueSet } from '@dialob/fill-react';

const App = () => {
  const session = useMemo(() => {
    return DialobFill.newSession(sessionId, config);
  }, []);

  return (
    <Session session={session}>
      <Questionnaire/>
    </Session>
  );
}

const Questionnaire = () => {
  const { item: questionnaire, errors } = useFillItem('questionnaire');
  if(!questionnaire) return null;

  if(questionnaire.items) {
    return (
      <div>
        {questionnaire.items.map(itemId => (
          <Item key={itemId} id={itemId}/>
        ))}
        {errors.map(error => (
          <span key={error.code}>{error.description}</span>
        ))}
      </div>
    );
  }

  return <span>Empty questionnaire</span>
}

const Item = ({ id }) => {
  const { item, errors } = useFillItem(id);
  if(!item) return null;

  if(item.type === 'text') {
    return (
      <div>
        <input type='text' value={item.value}/>
        {errors.map(error => (
          <span key={error.code}>{error.description}</span>
        ))}
      </div>
    );
  } else if(item.type === 'group') {
    return (
      <div className='group'>
        {item.items && item.items.map(itemId => (
          <Item key={itemId} id={itemId}/>
        ))}
      </div>
    );
  } else if(item.type === 'surveyGroup') {
    return <SurveyGroup item={item}/>
  } else {
    // etc... add your own selectors
    return null;
  }
}

const SurveyGroup = ({ item }) => {
  const valueSet = useFillValueSet(item.valueSetId);
  if(!valueSet) return null;

  return (
    <table>
      <thead>

      <tbody>

          <Survey key={itemId} id={itemId} valueSet={valueSet}/>
        ))}
      </tbody>
    </table>
  );
}

const Survey = ({ id, valueSet }) => {
