Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Optional shadcn form renderer for dimah-form — wraps FormFieldBinding, not the fill session

Readme

@dimah-form/ui

Optional prebuilt UI for dimah-form, on top of @dimah-form/react and shadcn/ui.

The fill session stays headless. This package wraps FormResponseApi / FormFieldBinding — it does not call useFormResponse.

Full documentation: form.dimah.dev/docs/ui · llms.txt

Install

pnpm add @dimah-form/ui @dimah-form/react

Or copy items from the shadcn registry — see UI Setup.

pnpm dlx shadcn@latest add https://form.dimah.dev/r/form.json

Styles

Import once in your CSS (Tailwind v4 source scan + shadcn color bridge):

@import "@dimah-form/ui/styles.css";

Colors default to your shadcn theme (--primary, --muted, …). Override --color-dimah-form-* to theme the library alone.

Quick start

import { createFormClient } from "@dimah-form/react";
import { FormUiProvider, FormView } from "@dimah-form/ui";

export const formClient = createFormClient();
export const { useFormResponse } = formClient;

const widgets = { rating: StarRatingField };

export function IntakeForm({ snapshot }) {
  const form = useFormResponse({ snapshot });

  return (
    <FormUiProvider widgets={widgets}>
      <FormView form={form} />
    </FormUiProvider>
  );
}

A widget is { binding, className, mode? }. Wrap the control in FormFieldFrame (layout: stack | choice | group) so components.FieldFrame applies. Register custom defineFieldType widgets once on FormUiProvider (or per FormView / FormScope) — same type string, or a meta.widget key (radio / switch / chips are built-in variants, not registry keys). Swap chrome with components (RequiredMark, FieldFrame, …) and localize extra issue codes with formatIssue. Built-in types (text, email, date, number, boolean, select, multiSelect) ship with the package. FormView layout="auto" picks a wizard when meta.step groups, and widgets in mode="review" when locked (FormReview is a compact Item list). Prefix / suffix use shadcn InputGroup. render / wrap-style slots keep the template while you own layout. Presentation lives on meta (widget, placeholder, section, step, width, help, …) — defineForm({ ... } satisfies FormDefinitionUi) so those keys autocomplete; pass FormDefinitionUi<typeof fieldTypes, typeof plugins> when the catalog has custom field types or plugin $Meta (createDefineForm types field keys and plugin meta, not this UI bag). Extra keys stay allowed. Import FormDefinitionUi from @dimah-form/ui/types in server form catalogs. Compose FormScope + primitives when you want every piece by hand.
