Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.1.6

Published

Scaffold a React 19 + Vite+ app with Flexoki Tailwind, shadcn/ui, Vitest, and React Router (npm create @dmarr/react-reps).

Readme

@dmarr/create-react-reps

Generate a Vite+ React app with the Flexoki starter theme, shadcn/ui (Base UI), Cube Motion, and tests. This repo is the npm package @dmarr/create-react-reps; the CLI binary is create-react-reps.

Live demo: https://marr.github.io/create-react-reps/ — the built Flexoki starter.

Create a project

From any directory. Node ≥ 24 recommended.

Recommended (create shorthand)

Same package (@dmarr/create-react-reps), shorter command:

npm create @dmarr/react-reps@latest

With Vite+ installed globally, scaffold plus install/format hooks:

vp create @dmarr/react-reps

Pass generator options after -- (Bingo CLI):

vp create @dmarr/react-reps --no-interactive --no-hooks -- --directory ./my-app --name my-app
npm create @dmarr/react-reps@latest -- --directory ./my-app --name my-app

Direct package name

npx @dmarr/create-react-reps
npx @dmarr/create-react-reps --directory ./my-app --name my-app

Or install globally:

npm install -g @dmarr/create-react-reps
create-react-reps

Options:

  • --directory — folder for the generated app (created if needed)
  • --name — package.json name for the new app (default: react-reps)

Then in the new app (if your tool did not run install already):

cd my-app
vp install # or pnpm install
vp dev
vp test
vp build

The generated app includes pnpm-workspace.yaml with a catalog so Vite+’s post-create catalog: rewrites resolve correctly in standalone projects.

After install, opt into editor config the Vite+ way:

vp migrate --interactive --editor vscode # or zed, jetbrains

See Vite+ IDE integration.

What you get

  • React 19 + TypeScript + Vite+
  • Tailwind CSS v4 with Flexoki palette and accent picker
  • shadcn/ui components on Base UI
  • Example routes, tests, and lint/test/build scripts

Development

The demo app is template/ — edit UI and routes there. That folder is what the generator copies and what GitHub Pages builds.

From this repo root:

pnpm install
pnpm run dev:template # http://127.0.0.1:5183
pnpm run dev:template:pages # VITE_BASE=/create-react-reps/
pnpm test:template

Build and exercise the generator CLI:

pnpm run build
node dist/index.mjs --help
node dist/index.mjs --directory .sandbox/my-app --name my-app --skip-requests

Standalone template install/build check (matches Pages):

pnpm run verify:template-standalone
