Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Control MCP Server

Drive a live AutoCAD session from Claude, Codex, Cursor, and other MCP clients — create and edit entities, manage layers/blocks/layouts, run commands and AutoLISP, and capture the current view.

Requirements

  • AutoCAD 2025, 2026, or 2027, with the Control plugin installed and running. This npm package is the MCP server only; it talks to AutoCAD through the plugin over a local connection, and every tool call that touches AutoCAD fails with "no instance found" until the plugin is installed and AutoCAD is open.
  • A Control account. Signing in takes one browser click and stores no secret in your client config — see below.

Run

npx -y @dmytro-prototypes/cad-control-mcp-server

The platform binary ships alongside this package, selected automatically via optionalDependencies. The launcher installs and runs a per-user copy:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Control/bin/cad-control-mcp-server
  • Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Control\cad-control-mcp-server.exe

If LOCALAPPDATA is unset, Windows uses %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local. Later launches reuse it when its contents match the packaged binary; a different package version replaces it atomically. The copy preserves the packaged code signature. If Windows blocks an update because the executable is running, close the Control MCP connections in your clients and retry; the existing executable is preserved when replacement fails.

Continue using the same npx command for startup and updates; no separate installation command is needed.

Supported platforms are macOS Apple Silicon and Windows x64 — the platforms AutoCAD itself runs on.

npx -y @dmytro-prototypes/cad-control-mcp-server login

Opens your browser to approve the sign-in; the key is then stored in your OS credential store, never in a config file. npx -y @dmytro-prototypes/cad-control-mcp-server status shows what's signed in, and logout forgets it. The same commands are also available as CONTROLLOGIN / CONTROLSTATUS / CONTROLLOGOUT typed directly in AutoCAD, once the plugin is installed.

Client configuration examples for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor are at your Control account's setup page.
