Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

TITW — a GitHub-backed package manager for agent knowledge and behavior files

Readme

TITW — This Is The Way

A GitHub-backed package manager for agent knowledge and behavior files.

TITW installs versioned packages of procedures, principles, decisions, skills, hooks, and scripts; lets consumers select or omit individual files; records exact provenance in a lockfile; and materializes an atomic local projection for an agent runtime. GitHub is the review/permissions/release layer; agent turns read local files — no server, registry, or network call in the hot path.

Companion to the procedures Claude plugin, which supplies the runtime lookup machinery (/how-do-i, procedure-scout, gates). TITW packages and versions the corpus that machinery reads.

Status

Pre-v1. The vertical slice works: install → select → sync → the procedures plugin queries the projection, proven end to end against a fixture corpus (test/spike.procedures-plugin.test.ts runs the real installed query-records.sh against a synced projection).

Authoring commands (init, check, lint, build, publish), dependency resolution, and active components (skills/hooks) are not implemented yet.

Install

npx -y @drewdrewthis/titw --help # no install needed
npm install -g @drewdrewthis/titw # or install the CLI globally

The npm package is scoped (@drewdrewthis/titw — the registry rejected the unscoped titw as too similar to existing packages); the installed command is still titw.

Working today

titw install github:owner/repo --version "^1.2.0" --exclude "knowledge/procedures/vm-only/**"
titw install path:../local-package --include knowledge/principles/simple-first.md
titw sync # stage → validate → atomically activate → receipt
titw status # environment, packages, active projection
titw files @scope/package # selected files and where each one projects
titw outdated # current / wanted / latest, from the published manifest version
titw update [package] # re-resolve locked package(s) against their recorded range
titw rollback # re-activate the previous projection

install/sync take --dry-run; every inspection command takes --json. All state lives under $TITW_HOME (default $XDG_DATA_HOME/titw, else ~/.local/share/titw).

When a file sync manages was edited locally, sync prompts (on a TTY) to replace it or keep the edit — --no-interactive (or a non-TTY stdin, e.g. in CI) always replaces without asking, same as before.

Pointing the procedures plugin at the corpus

sync writes the seven-store corpus to $TITW_HOME/targets/claude/active/corpus (titw status prints the path). The plugin reads it through its own corpus-root override — no plugin changes, no network:

QUERY_RECORDS_ROOT="$(titw status --json | jq -r '.targets[0].corpusRoot')" \
  ~/.claude/plugins/marketplaces/drewdrewthis/plugins/procedures/scripts/query-records.sh \
  --keyword deployment

Target CLI (design)

# author
titw init && titw check && titw build && titw publish --to github:owner/repo

# consume
titw update && titw remove @scope/package

Development

npm install
npm test
npm run typecheck
