Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@drzl/generator-forms

v0.2.1

Published

Generate react-hook-form resolvers, TanStack Form options and per-field input metadata from a Drizzle schema, with the min, max, maxlength and pattern the column really has.

Readme

@drzl/generator-forms

Form resolvers and per-field input metadata, generated from your Drizzle schema, for react-hook-form and TanStack Form.

Part of DRZL. Full documentation: Generators → Forms.

Install

npm install -D @drzl/generator-forms
npm install react-hook-form "@hookform/resolvers@>=5.0.0 <=5.4.0"   # or @tanstack/react-form

Use

// drzl.config.ts
export default {
  schema: './src/db/schema.ts',
  outDir: './src/api',
  generators: [
    { kind: 'zod', path: './src/validators/zod' },
    { kind: 'forms', path: './src/forms', target: 'react-hook-form' },
  ],
} as const;

The cap on @hookform/resolvers is measured: from 5.4.1 it declares @typeschema/main as an optional peer, whose chain pins zod 3 and valibot 0.39, so npm install fails beside the zod 4 and valibot 1 DRZL emits. See the docs for the full trace.

What it does

Emits one module per table carrying two things.

A resolver, wired to whichever validation generator the config names. react-hook-form needs one; TanStack Form does not, and gets the schema passed straight into validators.onChange.

The field metadata: the min, max, maxlength, pattern, options, required and default the column really carries, so an input element states them without a second source of truth.

Those bounds are the ones the database enforces, not the column's type range. A CHECK does not narrow Column.min, so a generator reading the column directly would put min="-2147483648" on an input for a column restricted to 18. The fold lives in @drzl/validation-core as fieldFacts, in the same place the emitted schemas get their bounds, so the input and the schema cannot disagree.
