The Runtime for Agent CLIs: command-line tools whose main caller is an LLM coding agent. You declare Commands with Zod schemas. The Runtime does the parsing, help (as text and as --help --json), output, errors with hints and Next steps, per-Command error codes and Secrets, exit codes, --dry-run and --confirm, pagination, Ctrl-C and deadlines, and the built-in doctor and update.
An Agent CLI bundles the Runtime, so install it as a devDependency next to zod. The fastest start is the Scaffolder:
pnpm create @duyquangnvx/agent-cli <name> --description "One line saying what it does"The full guide ships in this package, under docs/: once the Runtime is installed, a Coding agent reads node_modules/@duyquangnvx/agent-cli/docs/README.md, which always describes the installed version. A scaffolded CLI's AGENTS.md already points there; in a repo created another way, append agents-section.md to AGENTS.md. The repository has an overview.
