Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@e-volv/agents

v0.1.1

Published

e-volv Observer for Agents SDK for Node.js: agent runs, model calls and tool calls as spans the Observer rollup reads, with OpenAI, Anthropic, MCP and Vercel AI SDK wrappers.

Readme

@e-volv/agents

Agent runs as e-volv Observer reads them. Every model call, tool call and agent run becomes a span with the OpenTelemetry GenAI attributes, sent through the @e-volv/logs SDK you already have, so Observer's Agents pages show each run with its tokens, cost, session and prompt version.

npm install @e-volv/agents
import {
  init,
  instrumentOpenAI,
  traceAgent,
  traceTool,
  withSession,
} from '@e-volv/agents';
import OpenAI from 'openai';

init({
  key: process.env.EVOLVE_LOGS_KEY,
  url: 'https://api.e-volv.io/api/public/v1/logs',
  service: 'support-bot',
});
const openai = instrumentOpenAI(new OpenAI());

await withSession({ sessionId: thread.id, userId: user.id }, () =>
  traceAgent('triage', async () => {
    const res = await openai.chat.completions.create({
      model: 'gpt-5-mini',
      messages,
    });
    await traceTool('read_ticket', () => tickets.read(id));
    return res.choices[0].message.content;
  })
);

What it gives you

  • init(options): @e-volv/logs options plus content: true to record prompts, completions, tool arguments and results (off by default). e-volv Launch flags are off too, since a Berserker project key has no flags:read; pass flags to turn them on for a key that does.
  • traceAgent(name, fn, { agentId?, model?, provider? }): the run.
  • traceChat(model, fn, { provider }): one model call; call chat.usage({ input, output, cacheRead, cacheWrite }, responseModel) inside.
  • traceTool(name, fn): one tool call.
  • withSession({ sessionId, userId }, fn) and withPrompt({ name, version }, fn): tag every span inside.
  • instrumentOpenAI(client), instrumentAnthropic(client): wrap the client in place; chat completions, the Responses API and messages, streams included.
  • traceMcp(client, serverName): every callTool is a tool span.
  • aiMiddleware(): a Vercel AI SDK middleware for wrapLanguageModel.

Already on OpenTelemetry? You do not need this package: point your exporter at https://api.e-volv.io/api/public/v1/logs/otlp/v1/traces with the ingest key as Authorization and Observer reads the GenAI spans directly.
