Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

@envsec/core

Core secrets management engine for envsec — native OS credential store adapters and SQLite metadata database.

Overview

This package provides the foundational services used by the envsec CLI and @envsec/sdk:

  • KeychainAccess — platform-specific credential store adapters (macOS Keychain, Linux Secret Service, Windows Credential Manager)
  • MetadataStore — SQLite-based metadata tracking (key names, timestamps, expiry)
  • SecretStore — high-level facade combining keychain operations with metadata
  • Domain types — validated schemas for context names, secret keys, and durations

Installation

npm install @envsec/core
# or
pnpm add @envsec/core

Most users should use envsec (CLI) or @envsec/sdk (programmatic API) instead of this package directly.

Architecture

Built with Effect 4 ([email protected]) using the layered service pattern.

  1. Services define interfaces as Context.Service
  2. Implementations provide concrete Layer instances
  3. SecretStore composes KeychainAccess + MetadataStore into a single facade
