Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Installation

Install the package that includes [email protected]:

npm install @esmate/shadcn tailwindcss

or

pnpm install @esmate/shadcn tailwindcss

Import a style in your ./src/global.css:

@import "tailwindcss";

/* Please make sure the source is correct */
@source "../node_modules/@esmate/shadcn";
@import "@esmate/shadcn/styles/new-york.css";

Start using components:

import { Button } from "@esmate/shadcn/components/ui/button";

import { Card, CardContent } from "@esmate/shadcn/components/ui/card";

Usage

UI Components

All Shadcn UI components are available via @esmate/shadcn/components/ui/* imports.

import { Button } from "@esmate/shadcn/components/ui/button";

import { Card, CardContent } from "@esmate/shadcn/components/ui/card";

Utils

All Shadcn utils are available via @esmate/shadcn/utils imports.

import { cn } from "@esmate/shadcn/utils";

@esmate/shadcn/hooks/* also includes custom hooks, such as React Hook Form integrated with Zod support, like this:

import { z } from "@esmate/shadcn/pkgs/zod";
import { useZodForm } from "@esmate/shadcn/hooks/use-zod-form";

const FormSchema = z.object({
  email: z.string().email("Invalid email address"),
  password: z.string().min(6, "Password must be at least 6 characters"),
});

export function SignIn() {
  const form = useZodForm({
    schema: FormSchema,
    defaultValues: {
      email: "",
      password: "",
    },
  });

  const onSubmit = form.handleSubmit(async ({ email, password }) => {
    console.log({ email, password });
  });

  return (
    <div>
      <form onSubmit={onSubmit}>
        <input type="email" {...form.register("email")} />
        <input type="password" {...form.register("password")} />
        <button type="submit">Sign In</button>
      </form>
    </div>
  );
}

@import "@esmate/shadcn/styles/new-york.css";

If you want to create your own styles, the package includes a base style that's ready for customization.

@import "@esmate/shadcn/styles/base.css";

@custom-variant dark (&:is(.dark *));

Exports

Shadcn includes many dependencies that can be tricky to manage in a project. That’s why I created this package: to bundle them all in one place. I’ve re-exported everything for you, making the dependencies reusable and saving you from having to install each dependency individually.

import { useForm } from "@esmate/shadcn/pkgs/react-hook-form";
import { zodResolver } from "@esmate/shadcn/pkgs/hookform/resolvers";
import { Accordion } from "@esmate/shadcn/pkgs/radix-ui/react-accordion";
import { z } from "@esmate/shadcn/pkgs/zod";

You can check @esmate/shadcn/src/pkgs or node_modules/@esmate/shadcn/dist/pkgs to find more modules
