Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

The x402f facilitator

Readme

x402f Facilitator

The x402f facilitator is a semi-trusted x402 facilitator that settles payments against the Fangorn settlement registry. An x402 facilitator is a service that:

  • Verifies payment payloads submitted by clients.
  • Settles payments on the blockchain on behalf of servers.

The x402f facilitator replaces the standard verify/settle mechanism with a register/claim approach.

Verify -> Register

The /verify endpoint retains a similar same shape as standard x402, requiring a signed transferWithAuthorization call, except in this case the payment must be made from the caller to the facilitator itself. An additional header is sent to inform the facilitator of the buyer's identity commitment. The facilitator:

  • executes the payment to itself form the caller
  • generates burner keys and funds it based on the amount granted by the caller
  • prepares a new transferWithAuthorization call to the settlement registry contract
  • registers and claims resources on behalf of the caller, using the ephemeral burner key
  • notifies the client on success/failure
Settle -> Claim

As oppossed to a standard x402 facilitator, settlement has technically already happened on-chain. When a client called /settle in this case, they must pass along a zkp that they are registered within a specific semaphore group for a specific resource id. The facilitator then:

  • generates a nullifier
  • submit the proof onchain
  • returns the nullifier to the caller (caller needs the nullifier to decrypt)

Run

  1. From the root, run pnpm i
  2. Setup env vars by copying the templated cp ~/packages/facilitator/.env.local ~/packages/facilitator.env and fill in the details
  3. Run the facilitator locally with pnpm facilitator

Docker

To run as a docker image, configure env vars and then, from the root, run docker compose up --build.
