Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Sketchbook theme for feezal — paper background, subtle grain, self-hosted Gloria Hallelujah handwriting font — pairs with @feezal/feezal-elements-wired.

@feezal/feezal-theme-wired

"Sketchbook" theme for feezal, paired with the @feezal/feezal-elements-wired element family.

Paper-white background with a subtle grain texture, an ink/graphite text palette, and the self-hosted Gloria Hallelujah handwriting typeface (Google Fonts, SIL OFL 1.1 — see OFL.txt) inlined as a @font-face data: URI, since feezal's install pipeline only copies sidecar asset files for icon packages.

Light by design

Unlike LCARS, this is a light paper theme — a plain cream/paper background with dark ink text, not a dark theme. feezal-elements-wired itself stays theme-agnostic (its --feezal-wired-* tokens fall back to whatever theme is active), but it's really meant to be used together with this one for the full "hand-drawn sketchbook" look.

Palette

| Token | Value | Role | |---|---|---| | --feezal-wired-ink | #2e2a26 | Primary text / stroke colour | | --feezal-wired-paper | #f7f2e7 | Page background | | --feezal-wired-paper-alt | #efe8d8 | Card / panel background | | --feezal-wired-blue | #2b4c7e | Accent (ballpoint-blue) | | --feezal-wired-red | #b23a1e | Accent / error (red pencil) | | --feezal-wired-ochre | #b8860b | Warning (highlighter) | | --feezal-wired-green | #3f6b3f | Success (muted ink green) |

Colours are original choices for this theme, not sourced from any third-party palette.

Grain texture

The subtle paper grain is a small inline SVG feTurbulence noise filter (background-image, no opacity applied by default beyond the filter's own neutral tone) — no external image asset, so it survives static export the same way the self-hosted font does.

Accessibility

  • Font-size and contrast stay overridable per element via the Style inspector — Gloria Hallelujah is a handwriting face and trades some legibility for character, consistent with the family's playful intent (element-spec.md and CLAUDE.md both call for an opt-in handwriting font specifically so this trade-off is a choice, not a default).
  • No animation is defined by this theme.

License note

Gloria Hallelujah is designed by Kimberly Geswein and distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (OFL.txt) via Google Fonts. This theme ships an unmodified latin-subset woff2 build as served by Google Fonts.
