Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React component for FlowViz flow visualization engine

Readme

⬡ @flowviz/react

React wrapper for the FlowViz flow visualization engine.

Drop-in <FlowViz /> component that renders animated particle flows over directed graphs using Canvas2D.

npm license

Install

npm install @flowviz/react @flowviz/core

@flowviz/core is a dependency and will be installed automatically, but you'll want it for the type imports.

Quick Start

import { FlowViz } from '@flowviz/react';
import type { NodeDefinition, EdgeDefinition, FlowConfig } from '@flowviz/core';

const nodes: NodeDefinition[] = [
  { id: 'a', label: 'Ingest', layer: 0, shape: 'rect',
    color: '#060c1a', borderColor: '#3b82f6', glowColor: '#3b82f6', glowRadius: 8, size: 46 },
  { id: 'b', label: 'Process', layer: 1, shape: 'rect',
    color: '#060c1a', borderColor: '#22d3ee', glowColor: '#22d3ee', glowRadius: 8, size: 46 },
];

const edges: EdgeDefinition[] = [
  { from: 'a', to: 'b', color: '#3b82f6', width: 2 },
];

const config: FlowConfig = {
  autoLayout: true,
  flowSpeed: 0.6,
  particleDensity: 0.5,
  edgeStyle: 'bezier',
  background: '#060c1a',
};

export default function App() {
  return (
    <FlowViz
      nodes={nodes}
      edges={edges}
      config={config}
      width={900}
      height={500}
    />
  );
}

Props

| Prop | Type | Description | |------|------|-------------| | nodes | NodeDefinition[] | Array of node objects | | edges | EdgeDefinition[] | Array of edge objects | | config | FlowConfig | Engine & render configuration | | width | number | Canvas width in pixels | | height | number | Canvas height in pixels | | className | string? | CSS class for the canvas element | | style | CSSProperties? | Inline styles for the canvas |

Features

  • Declarative — pass nodes/edges/config as props, the component handles the rest
  • Auto-cleanup — engine is destroyed on unmount, no memory leaks
  • Reactive — config/node/edge changes are picked up automatically
  • Lightweight — thin wrapper around @flowviz/core, tree-shakeable

Core Engine

See @flowviz/core for the headless engine API, vanilla JS usage, and full type reference.
