Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@fluidkit/lift

v1.4.1

Published

A long press lifts any element above everything, the page dimmed and blurred behind it, and opens your menu beside it: iOS's context menu, for the web.

Readme

@fluidkit/lift

Long-press, right-click or press the menu key to lift any element above the page, with the background dimmed and blurred, and open your menu next to it. The iOS context menu, for the web. The same finger can slide onto an item to pick it. A copy of the element is lifted in a modal <dialog>, above any overflow, z-index or transform; the original stays in place.

Documentation · Changelog · Part of Fluid Kit

npm install @fluidkit/lift
<img class="photo" src="…" alt="…" tabindex="0" />

<div class="menu" role="menu" aria-label="Photo" hidden>
  <button role="menuitem">Copy</button>
  <button role="menuitem">Delete</button>
</div>
import { createLift } from "@fluidkit/lift";

createLift({
  element: document.querySelector(".photo"),
  menu: document.querySelector(".menu"),
  onSelect: (item) => console.log(item.textContent),
});

You write the menu; Lift positions it below (or above) the element, opens and closes it. See the documentation for options and the API.

React

@fluidkit/lift/react has components (each part can render as your own element with render) and a useLift() hook for custom markup.

import { Lift } from "@fluidkit/lift/react";

<Lift.Root onSelect={(value) => act(value)}>
  <Lift.Target render={<img src={src} alt="" />} />
  <Lift.Menu className="menu">
    <Lift.Item value="copy">Copy</Lift.Item>
    <Lift.Item value="share">Share</Lift.Item>
  </Lift.Menu>
</Lift.Root>

More in the documentation.

Vue

@fluidkit/lift/vue has the same components (each part can render as the element in its slot with as-child) and a useLift() composable. Vue 3.5+.

<script setup lang="ts">
import { Lift } from "@fluidkit/lift/vue";
</script>

<template>
  <Lift.Root @select="(value) => act(value)">
    <Lift.Target as-child><img :src="src" alt="" /></Lift.Target>
    <Lift.Menu class="menu">
      <Lift.Item value="copy">Copy</Lift.Item>
      <Lift.Item value="share">Share</Lift.Item>
    </Lift.Menu>
  </Lift.Root>
</template>

Svelte

@fluidkit/lift/svelte has the same components (each part can render an element of yours with a child snippet) and a useLift() function. Svelte 5.29+.

<script lang="ts">
  import { Lift } from "@fluidkit/lift/svelte";
</script>

<Lift.Root onSelect={(value) => act(value)}>
  <Lift.Target>
    {#snippet child({ props })}<img {...props} {src} alt="" />{/snippet}
  </Lift.Target>
  <Lift.Menu class="menu">
    <Lift.Item value="copy">Copy</Lift.Item>
    <Lift.Item value="share">Share</Lift.Item>
  </Lift.Menu>
</Lift.Root>
