Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.1.43

ForgeaX Scene Generator extension.

Readme

Scene Generator

Create TypeScript scenes with an independent authoring UI and export native Engine Packs.

Install and start

Requires Node.js 22.13 or newer, npm, and Bun 1.3.14.

Codex plugin

With a Codex CLI that provides codex plugin, install the plugin into your personal Codex configuration:

npx --yes @forgeax-extension/scene-generator@latest install

Start a new Codex task, select Scene Generator from the @ menu, and describe the scene, for example: "Create a medieval market." The included scene-build Skill starts the local service on demand, opens the authoring UI, and creates modular TypeScript scenes. Native Pack and Engine GUID delivery use Engine 0.3.3.

Installation registers the plugin through codex plugin add and preserves other personal plugins. Service startup occurs when the Skill is used. Workspaces keep separate projects under ~/.forgeax/scene-generator/codex; subsequent calls reuse their healthy service. The Skill also provides status and shutdown commands.

Run codex plugin list --json to confirm that scene-generator is installed and enabled. Installing the npm dependency alone downloads the package; the install command performs Codex registration. Before updating, ask Scene Generator to stop its service in the original task, repeat the installation command, and start a new Codex task. Existing projects are preserved.

Standalone UI

npm install @forgeax-extension/scene-generator
npm explore @forgeax-extension/scene-generator -- bun run serve

Open http://127.0.0.1:9555/. The service API listens on port 9557. Keep the command running while using the UI. Press Ctrl+C to stop both services.

Projects are stored in ~/.forgeax/scene-generator, independently of the npm installation. Set FORGEAX_PROJECT_ROOT to use a different data directory. VITE_DEV_PORT selects the UI port, and PORT selects the API port.

Agent integration

The Studio integration uses extensions/scene-generator/ with the standard manifest, CLI module, and authoring Skill. The @forgeax/game maintainer includes that directory in a host release. In a host that contains the extension, enable it for the game project through node node_modules/@forgeax/game/dist/main.js scene-generator enable --ide codex, then request scene authoring through the installed Skill. The independent service must be running.

Native asset publication uses Engine 0.3.3 and returns Engine asset GUIDs. The supported host version is @forgeax/game 0.3.10, which prepares Engine SDK 0.3.3 when creating a game. Existing games use the SDK migration flow to update their dependencies, lockfile, and Engine Skills while preserving source and GUIDs.
