Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@fullsnacklab/astro-emdash

Friendly persistence presets for the official Emdash Astro integration. The package removes repeated local and Cloudflare adapter wiring while leaving collections, plugins, authentication, routes, and other CMS policy with Emdash and the application.

Local and Node preset

Install the wrapper and Emdash:

bun add @fullsnacklab/astro-emdash emdash

The default export uses local libSQL, filesystem media storage, and an in-memory object cache:

import emdash from "@fullsnacklab/astro-emdash";
import { defineConfig } from "astro/config";

export default defineConfig({
  integrations: [emdash()],
});

The defaults are:

  • database URL: file:./data.db;
  • media directory: ./uploads;
  • media URL: /_emdash/api/media/file;
  • in-memory cache TTL: 600 seconds.

Override only the values your application needs:

emdash({
  database: { url: "libsql://database.example.com", authToken: process.env.TURSO_AUTH_TOKEN },
  storage: { directory: "./media", baseUrl: "/media" },
  cache: false,
  emdash: {
    siteUrl: "https://example.com",
    images: false,
  },
});

The nested emdash object forwards advanced upstream options unchanged. Persistence fields remain owned by the preset; use emdash/astro directly when you need different adapters.

Cloudflare preset

Install Emdash’s official Cloudflare adapters when using the subpath:

bun add @fullsnacklab/astro-emdash emdash @emdash-cms/cloudflare @astrojs/cloudflare
import cloudflare from "@astrojs/cloudflare";
import emdash from "@fullsnacklab/astro-emdash/cloudflare";
import { defineConfig } from "astro/config";

export default defineConfig({
  adapter: cloudflare(),
  integrations: [emdash()],
  output: "server",
});

The Cloudflare preset composes Emdash’s official adapters with conventional bindings:

  • D1 database: DB;
  • R2 media bucket: MEDIA;
  • KV object cache: CACHE.

Bindings and adapter behavior remain explicit when needed:

emdash({
  bindings: {
    database: "CONTENT_DB",
    media: "ASSETS",
    cache: "CONTENT_CACHE",
  },
  database: { session: "auto" },
  storage: { publicUrl: "https://media.example.com" },
  cache: { defaultTtl: 300, keyPrefix: "site:" },
  emdash: { siteUrl: "https://example.com" },
});

Set cache: false to leave object caching application-owned. The wrapper does not configure Wrangler resources, wrap @astrojs/cloudflare, or own account identifiers; combine it with @fullsnacklab/astro-cloudflare when those build seams are useful.

API

Root export:

  • emdashLocal(options?) — default and named local integration factory.
  • createLocalEmdashConfig(options?) — returns the composed upstream Emdash config.

Cloudflare subpath:

  • emdashCloudflare(options?) — default and named Cloudflare integration factory.
  • createCloudflareEmdashConfig(options?) — returns the composed upstream Emdash config.
