Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CLI tool to manage and install custom AI skills for Antigravity, Gemini, and code IDE agents.

Easily distribute and maintain collections of specialized skills across your system or team workspace repositories.

🌟 Key Features

  • Store Multiple Skills in One Place: Manage all your organization's or personal AI skills in a single, well-organized repository.
  • Global Installation (Default): Automatically installs skills to ~/.gemini/config/skills/, instantly making them accessible in every IDE session on your machine without reloading.
  • Workspace Scoping (--workspace / -w): Install skills into .agents/skills/ at your project root to commit and share with teammates via git.
  • Custom Destination (--dest <path> / -d <path>): Install skills into any custom folder of your choice.
  • Clean Manifest Tracking: Tracks which skills were installed by @funtools/skills-manager in each location, preventing unwanted deletions of your custom-authored skills during uninstall.
  • Easy Extension: Adding a new skill takes seconds — simply add a folder with a SKILL.md file.

🚀 Quick Start

Run instantly with npx:

# List all bundled skills
npx @funtools/skills-manager list

# Install all skills globally
npx @funtools/skills-manager install --all

# Or install specific skills
npx @funtools/skills-manager install code-review git-commit-helper

🛠️ How to Add New Skills to This Repo

  1. Create a new directory inside skills/:

    mkdir skills/my-new-skill
  2. Create a SKILL.md inside that directory with YAML frontmatter:

    ---
    name: my-new-skill
    description: >-
Explain what this skill does and when the agent should use it.
    ---

    # My New Skill Title

Detailed workflow, steps, and rules for the agent...
  3. (Optional) Add auxiliary folders:

    • scripts/: Shell scripts or utilities the agent can run.
    • references/: Detailed reference documentation, API specs, checklists.
    • examples/: Code samples and reference implementations.
    • resources/: Templates or static assets.
  4. Verify your skill appears in the registry:

    node bin/skills-manager.js list
  5. Publish a new package version or commit to your repository!
