Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Polaris Dataset Reports

This visualization generates a dataset report by collecting upstream lineage metadata for a selected Galaxy dataset and summarizing how the dataset was produced.

The report is derived entirely from existing Galaxy metadata and presents:

  • An upstream data flow view showing how the dataset was generated
  • A concise textual summary of the processing steps and tools involved

The visualization performs bounded lineage traversal and does not require any user interaction after launch.

Use Case

Polaris Dataset Reports are intended to help users:

  • Understand how a dataset was created
  • Review processing steps applied in a history
  • Generate a human-readable summary of dataset provenance

Scope

  • Operates only on existing Galaxy metadata
  • Focuses on upstream lineage of the selected dataset
  • Designed as a read-only inspection and reporting tool
