Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Gateorix CLI — scaffold, develop, and build cross-platform desktop apps with web UI and native power.

Gateorix pairs modern web frontends (React, Vue, Svelte) with native OS access through Rust/Tauri, and lets you write backend logic in any language you prefer.

Install

npm install -g @gateorixjs/cli

This installs two binariesgateorix and its short alias gx. They are identical; use whichever you prefer.

gateorix --version   # 0.3.2
gx --version # 0.3.2 (same binary)

Commands

| Command | Alias | Description | |---|---|---| | gateorix init <name> | gx init <name> | Scaffold a new project (interactive prompts for backend & UI) | | gateorix dev | gx dev | Start the app in development mode with hot reload | | gateorix build | gx build | Build the app for production | | gateorix doctor | gx doctor | Check environment and dependencies | | gateorix add runtime <lang> | gx add runtime <lang> | Add a runtime adapter | | gateorix add plugin <name> | gx add plugin <name> | Add a plugin |

Quick Start

# Interactive — prompts for project name, backend language, and UI framework
gx init my-app

cd my-app
gx dev

Supported Templates (25 combinations)

gx init prompts for a UI framework and a backend language. Any combination works — 25 in total.

UI frameworks: react, vue, svelte, solid, vanilla

Backend languages: python, go, c#, f#, c++

Each combination maps to an example at examples/hello-<ui>-<lang> — for instance:

  • gx init my-app → pick vue + go → scaffolds from hello-vue-go
  • gx init my-app → pick svelte + c# → scaffolds from hello-svelte-cs
  • gx init my-app → pick vanilla + python → scaffolds from hello-vanilla-python

Adding Runtimes & Plugins

gx add runtime python # or: go, dotnet, cpp, swift
gx add plugin filesystem # or: process, notifications, clipboard

What You Get

  • 5 UI frameworks — React, Vue 3, Svelte, SolidJS, or plain HTML/TS (Vanilla)
  • 5 backend languages — Python, Go, C#, F#, C++
  • Native host runtime — windows, menus, file access, notifications via Rust/Tauri
  • Plugin system — filesystem, clipboard, notifications, process, and custom plugins
  • Secure IPC bridge — JSON messages with permission-based access control

Requirements

  • Node.js >= 18
  • Rust (for Tauri compilation)
  • Python 3.10+ (for Python backend adapter)
