Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@geoicons/core

v1.4.1

Published

Framework-agnostic core for GeoIcons — offline ES256 license verification and the embedded public key. Shared by every framework package.

Readme

@geoicons/core

npm version license zero dependencies

Framework-agnostic core for GeoIcons. Ships the offline ES256 license verifier and the embedded public key shared by every framework package - @geoicons/react, @geoicons/vue, @geoicons/angular, and @geoicons/vanilla.

⚖️ Dual-licensed: GPLv3 or Commercial. See LICENSE and COMMERCIAL-LICENSE.md. Commercial licenses: geoicons.io.

Do you need this?

Usually no - your framework package depends on it and re-exports what you need. It's published separately so the verifier and public key live in exactly one place. Install it directly only if you're building your own integration or want to verify a key outside of a UI.

npm install @geoicons/core

Pure, zero-dependency, native Web Crypto. Works in the browser and in any modern runtime with crypto.subtle.

API

import { verifyLicenseKey, GPL_DECLARATION, PUBLIC_KEY_JWK } from '@geoicons/core';

const status = await verifyLicenseKey(key); // 'commercial' | 'invalid' (offline, no network)

| Export | Type | Purpose | | --- | --- | --- | | verifyLicenseKey(key) | (key: string) => Promise<LicenseStatus> | Offline ES256 signature check against the embedded public key. Returns 'commercial' for a valid key, 'gpl' for the declaration, or 'invalid'. | | GPL_DECLARATION | string | The open-source declaration string (GPL-MY-PROJECT-IS-OPEN-SOURCE). | | LicenseStatus | type | 'commercial' \| 'gpl' \| 'unverified' \| 'invalid'. | | PUBLIC_KEY_JWK | JsonWebKey | The verify-only public key. Safe to ship - it cannot sign. |

How verification works

Verification is a legal nudge, not a lock. Icons always render - there is no watermark, no network call, and no runtime gate. A single console notice appears once per session when no license is confirmed, pointing to GPLv3 compliance or a commercial key. Confirming a license (via your framework's provider/plugin) silences it.

The verifier checks an ES256 signature entirely offline against the embedded public key. No data leaves the client; there is no telemetry.
