archmd-mcp-server

An MCP server that exposes one tool, open_in_archmd, so any MCP-capable AI client can open a Markdown file or URL in the ArchMD editor.

• Local files open through the installed ArchMD PWA when available — a real FileSystemFileHandle, so there's no size limit and Save writes back to the original file.
• URLs (and local files when the PWA isn't installed) open via a deep link (?url= / ?content=).
• Cross-OS launch: macOS open, Windows start, Linux xdg-open. (The PWA-handle path is currently macOS-only; other platforms use the deep link.)

Tool

open_in_archmd({ target }) — target is a local .md path (absolute or ~-relative) or an http(s) URL. Returns a text description of the action.

Setup

Published to npm as @ghanithan/archmd-mcp-server, so clients run it with npx — no clone or install needed.

Claude Code

Any other MCP host

Launch npx -y @ghanithan/archmd-mcp-server over the stdio transport. MCP is a cross-vendor protocol, so hosts beyond Anthropic's that support MCP can use it.

Run from source (local path)

Notes

• For the PWA-handle path, install ArchMD first: open https://www.archmd.dev in Chrome/Edge → Install, and allow it to open .md files.
• Browser-sandboxed assistants (e.g. web chat UIs) can't open local files at all; this server is for local MCP hosts that can spawn a process.
