Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Query GitHub releases from your terminal. Fast, simple, powerful.

Stop clicking through GitHub's UI. Compare versions, search releases, and track changes - all from the command line.

Quick Start

Install

npm i -g @ghershko/releaseradar
# or
pnpm i -g @ghershko/releaseradar
# or
yarn global add @ghershko/releaseradar

Setup (if not already installed)

brew install gh && gh auth login

Configure (add to ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc)

export RR_ORG=myorg
export RR_REPO=myrepo

Use

rr list                    # View all releases
rr releases v2.1.0         # Compare since version
rr search "fix"            # Search releases
rr info v2.1.5             # Release details

Commands

rr releases <tag>          # Show releases since a specific tag
rr list [prefix]           # List all releases (optional: filter by prefix)
rr search <term>           # Search release notes
rr info <tag>              # Get detailed release info

Flags

  • --org <name> - Override GitHub organization
  • --repo <name> - Override repository name

  • Verify: rr --org myorg --repo myrepo list
  • Increase limit: export RR_LIMIT=500
