Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.0.2

Published

Vite plugin to show screen size and breakpoints in dev mode.

Readme

@greener-games/vite-screen-size

A lightweight Vite plugin that displays the current screen dimensions and active breakpoint in a small, non-intrusive overlay during development.

License NPM Version

Features

  • 📏 Live Dimensions: Shows real-time window width and height.
  • 📱 Breakpoint Detection: Automatically identifies the active breakpoint (Tailwind, Bootstrap, or Custom).
  • 🎨 Modern UI: Clean, semi-transparent overlay with a glassmorphism effect.
  • 🛠 Zero Config: Works out of the box with Tailwind breakpoints.
  • 🚀 Dev-Only: Automatically disabled in production builds.

Installation

npm install -D @greener-games/vite-screen-size
# or
yarn add -D @greener-games/vite-screen-size
# or
pnpm add -D @greener-games/vite-screen-size

Usage

Add it to your vite.config.ts (or vite.config.js):

import { defineConfig } from 'vite';
import screenSize from '@greener-games/vite-screen-size';

export default defineConfig({
  plugins: [
    // Simple setup with default options (Tailwind breakpoints)
    screenSize()
  ]
});

Configuration

The plugin uses Tailwind CSS breakpoints by default. You can change this behavior by providing an options object to the plugin.

You can customize the breakpoints or use a different preset:

screenSize({
  /**
   * Presets: 'tailwind' (default), 'bootstrap', or 'none'
   */
  preset: 'tailwind',

  /**
   * Custom breakpoints mapping name to pixel value.
   * Custom breakpoints will override preset values if the names overlap.
   */
  breakpoints: {
    xs: 480,
    tablet: 768,
    desktop: 1024,
    '4k': 2560
  }
})

Tailwind (Default)

{
  "sm": 640,
  "md": 768,
  "lg": 1024,
  "xl": 1280,
  "2xl": 1536
}

Bootstrap

{
  "sm": 576,
  "md": 768,
  "lg": 992,
  "xl": 1200,
  "xxl": 1400
}

None Pass preset: 'none' to start with a blank slate, requiring you to provide your own breakpoints object.

Options

| Property | Type | Default | Description | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | preset | 'tailwind' \| 'bootstrap' \| 'none' | 'tailwind' | Predefined breakpoint sets. | | breakpoints | Record<string, number> | {} | Custom breakpoint definitions. |
