Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@hadialmarzooq/agent-media-cli

JSON-first CLI for deterministic, verified media workflows.

What it does

Command-line interface for Agent Media. Every command outputs one JSON document to stdout. Optional progress is newline-delimited JSON on stderr — so automation never receives mixed output.

Install

npm install -g @hadialmarzooq/agent-media-cli

Prerequisites: Node.js 22+, ffmpeg and ffprobe on PATH.

Commands

# Inspect media metadata
agent-media inspect demo.mp4

# Six verified workflows
agent-media vertical demo.mp4 --output vertical.mp4 --max-size 25 --progress
agent-media optimize demo.mp4 --output web.mp4 --max-size 10 --progress
agent-media normalize demo.mp4 --output normalized.mp4
agent-media extract-audio demo.mp4 --output audio.m4a
agent-media extract-frame demo.mp4 --output frame.jpg --at 2
agent-media concatenate intro.mp4 --inputs body.mp4 outro.mp4 --output full.mp4

# Explicit plan → execute → verify pipeline
agent-media plan demo.mp4 --aspect 9:16 --max-size 25 --out plan.json
agent-media validate-plan plan.json
agent-media repair-plan plan.json --out repaired.json
agent-media execute repaired.json --output replay.mp4 --write-receipt --progress
agent-media verify replay.mp4 --against plan.json

# Receipts: inspect one, or continue from it without re-encoding
agent-media receipt replay.mp4.receipt.json
agent-media resume replay.mp4.receipt.json

# The canonical Media IR JSON Schema, and local FFmpeg capabilities
agent-media schema
agent-media capabilities

Limits

agent-media --allowed-output-dir ~/Movies/out vertical demo.mp4 --output ~/Movies/out/v.mp4

--timeout <ms> and --allowed-output-dir <path> apply to a single invocation. The same limits can be set for good with AGENT_MEDIA_TIMEOUT_MS and AGENT_MEDIA_ALLOWED_OUTPUT_DIR, alongside AGENT_MEDIA_FFMPEG_PATH and AGENT_MEDIA_FFPROBE_PATH for binaries that are not on PATH.

Output format

Successes write JSON to stdout:

{
  "path": "/abs/path/vertical.mp4",
  "kind": "video",
  "video": { "width": 1080, "height": 1920, "codec": "h264", "pixelFormat": "yuv420p" },
  "verification": { "passed": true, "checks": { ... }, "failures": [] }
}

Failures write structured JSON to stderr with stable code, message, context, and suggestedActions, and exit non-zero. A workflow whose output does not satisfy its plan is a failure, not a success carrying passed: false.
