Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Read-only codebase research MCP server and CLI with commit-pinned file and line citations.

Requirements

Node.js 22 or newer
Git
ripgrep (rg)
gitleaks (recommended; private repositories fail closed without a scan unless the operator explicitly uses sync --no-gitleaks)

Install

npm install --global @hanzomaster/onboarding

Or run it without a global install:

npx @hanzomaster/onboarding --help

Quick start

mkdir my-codebase-estate
cd my-codebase-estate

onboarding init
onboarding repo add /absolute/path/to/a/private-repo
onboarding repo add https://github.com/org/public-repo.git --public
onboarding sync
onboarding doctor
onboarding integrate

Project configuration, snapshots, indexes, audit logs, and evaluation output are stored under the ignored .onboarding/ directory. Repositories are private and fail closed by default; use --public only for genuinely public source.

onboarding integrate prints an absolute stdio launcher to add to an MCP client. It does not edit client configuration automatically.
