Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@harivatsa/sirius-repo-agent

Local scanner, sync client, watch process, Git hook installer, and source-range server for Sirius MCP.

Install from npm with:

npm install -g @harivatsa/sirius-repo-agent

Then configure the index server once and install the user-level background service:

sirius-repo-agent init --server http://127.0.0.1:8000
sirius-repo-agent install-service

The service runs sirius-repo-agent daemon: it serves local snippets on 127.0.0.1:3987, watches registered repos, and restarts through the OS user service manager. Linux uses a systemd user unit; macOS uses a LaunchAgent. Use sirius-repo-agent service-status or sirius-repo-agent uninstall-service to inspect or remove it.

Claude/MCP can register and sync repos through the local agent with the index_repo MCP tool. Manual CLI registration still works:

sirius-repo-agent add /path/to/repo --repo my-repo
sirius-repo-agent sync my-repo

The scanner supports common application source and config files across TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, Rust, JVM, C/C++, C#, Ruby, PHP, Swift, Scala, Haskell, SQL, Markdown/MDX, JSON/YAML/TOML, HTML/CSS, shell, Dockerfile/Makefile, Terraform, Prisma, GraphQL, Dart, Elixir, Lua, R, and related stacks. Symbol-aware chunking is currently strongest for TS/JS, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C/C++, and Haskell; other supported files use bounded overlapping windows.

The scanner always skips common dependency, generated, build, cache, lockfile, and runtime artifacts before chunking or vectorization, including node_modules/, vendor/, venv/, .venv/, site-packages/, .eggs/, dist/, build/, .next/, .vite/, .output/, target/, coverage/, generated/, .gradle/, .dart_tool/, .stack-work/, dist-newstyle/, .vs/, .sirius/, package lockfiles, minified/bundled assets, source maps, protobuf outputs, and common generated source suffixes.

For repo-specific large directories, generate a reviewable Sirius-only ignore template before the first reset sync:

sirius-repo-agent init-ignore /path/to/repo
sirius-repo-agent init-ignore /path/to/repo --write
sirius-repo-agent init-ignore /path/to/repo --preset source-only
sirius-repo-agent init-ignore /path/to/repo --preset source-only --write

The default docs-only preset skips documentation and generated-site directories while keeping tests and scripts searchable. The source-only preset is more aggressive: it also includes common support directories only when they exist, such as examples/, tests/, benchmarks/, and scripts/. Review the generated .siriusignore before committing it; the command refuses to replace an existing file unless --force is provided.

The package is published publicly on npm as @harivatsa/sirius-repo-agent.
