Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@healthzkit/prisma

v0.0.6

Prisma health-check adapter for healthzkit (PrismaClient $connect / $queryRawUnsafe).

Readme

@healthzkit/prisma

Prisma healthzkit HealthAdapter helper. Successful checks call $connect() on your existing PrismaClient, run a lightweight SQL probe (default SELECT 1) via $queryRawUnsafe, and return ok with metadata.latencyMs plus any fields from an optional metadata hook; failures return fail with the caught error.

The adapter does not create a client or read DATABASE_URL for you—pass the same PrismaClient instance your application already uses.

Install

npm install @healthzkit/prisma healthzkit @prisma/client

Peer: @prisma/client ≥ 7.

Database drivers stay in your application (Prisma’s generator and datasource configuration); this package only peers on @prisma/client.

Package entrypoints

| Import | Exports | | --------------------------- | -------------------------------- | | @healthzkit/prisma | prismaAdapter and option types | | @healthzkit/prisma/prisma | prismaAdapter only |

Use the subpath when you want a minimal import surface.

Options

prismaAdapter accepts:

| Option | Description | | ---------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | client | Your PrismaClient instance. Required. | | query | SQL executed for the probe. Default SELECT 1. | | metadata | Optional (client) => Record<string, unknown> (sync or async) merged into metadata with latencyMs. |

The probe uses $queryRawUnsafe. Use only trusted query strings (your own literals or constants).

Basic usage

Pass the same client your service uses for application queries:

import { createHealthKit } from "healthzkit";
import { prismaAdapter } from "@healthzkit/prisma";
import { prisma } from "./db.ts";

const kit = createHealthKit({
  checks: [
    {
      name: "database",
      type: ["readiness"],
      adapter: prismaAdapter({ client: prisma }),
    },
  ],
});

Custom query and metadata

import { prismaAdapter } from "@healthzkit/prisma/prisma";

const adapter = prismaAdapter({
  client: prisma,
  query: "SELECT current_database()",
  metadata: async (client) => {
    const [{ version }] = await client.$queryRawUnsafe<{ version: string }[]>("SELECT version()");
    return { version };
  },
});

When to use this vs other adapters

| Situation | Suggestion | | ----------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | App already uses Prisma for all DB access | @healthzkit/prisma — pass client, no second connection | | App uses Drizzle ORM | @healthzkit/drizzle — pass your existing db instance | | Raw pg / mysql2 pool without ORM | @healthzkit/postgres, @healthzkit/mysql, or @healthzkit/sqlite |

Scheduling

For busy databases, pair this adapter with a schedule on the check so readiness reads cached results instead of hitting the database on every probe. See the Scheduling section in the healthzkit README.

Development

From the monorepo root:

vp install
vp test --filter @healthzkit/prisma
vp pack --filter @healthzkit/prisma
