Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Generated Arena Game data bundle for website and tooling consumers.

This package is produced from Unity data assets in Assets/DataAssets/ and weapon definitions in Assets/Resources/Weapons/.

Usage

import gameData from "@hefty-studios/arena-game-data";

You can also import the raw generated files directly:

import schema from "@hefty-studios/arena-game-data/game-data.bundle.schema.json" with { type: "json" };

Entity icon refs may include icon.packagePath, which points at an optimized WebP asset inside the package.

Ability tooltips

Use ability.tooltip.baseDescription for readable base values, or render descriptionTemplate by substituting {key} from tooltip.values. Values are strings ready for display; build calculators may supply effective replacements. No Unity API is needed.

Supported keys: output (direct output range or weapon formula), splash (secondary output), damageType, radius (ground-area radius), range (ability reach/self-area radius), splashRadius, duration (area lifetime), interval (area tick interval), tickTime (channel interval), and hits. Distances are metres and times are seconds; templates supply units.

Render tooltip.effects as ordered icon/name rows; each includes a GUID definition reference and resolved details for its child tooltip, including passive markers omitted from the public buff list. These rows derive from existing gameplay effect entries.

Abilities and weapons expose ordered tooltipAbilityLinks. Resolve ability.id in the abilities collection. Group rows in this order: Buffs (effect kind Buff), Debuffs (effect kind Debuff), Related Abilities (RelatedAbility), and Passives & Talents (TalentModifier). Give each populated group a divider and small subdued heading; hide empty groups. Show TalentModifier rows only when that ability ID is granted by the displayed build. All configured links are exported. Preserve order and build context; suppress duplicate and ancestor links when opening children.

Classes, specialisations and builds

Availability combines class universalAvailability, class abilityAvailability and spec abilityAvailability. Each grant has inclusive minimumLevel/maximumLevel bounds. Pool point budgets in abilityPoolAccesses are deprecated historical metadata and must not control availability.

Use resolveSpec(bundle, classId, specId) from the builds entry point for baselineAbilities and talentAbilities. New specs expose talentConfiguration (baselineGrants and ordered rows); Legacy specs expose talentTree for browsing. Talent IDs preserve shared identity, while assetId identifies the Unity talent asset. Resolved talent text/icons include ability fallbacks.

Import createBuild, changeTalent, resetTalents, validateBuild, encodeBuild and decodeBuild from @hefty-studios/arena-game-data/builds. Helpers accept the bundle explicitly and support current row-system AGB3 codes. Codecs return promises and use Web Crypto. Invalid/stale imports throw without repairing selections. AGB2 and legacy-system AGB3 calculators are not supported. changeTalent/resetTalents return { build, changes }; changes report invalidated equipment and shortcuts. No combat simulation is performed.

New builds have empty equipment and bars. Incomplete rows are valid; isComplete reports minimum selection completeness separately. Keep build IDs distinct from asset GUIDs and preserve selection order. Share links may carry the unchanged AGB3 code in a URL fragment.
