Trivia provides private, server-scoped rounds from the question catalogue installed with the module, with one through ten questions and an optional marked review.

Availability and deployment

Trivia is Live and supported by Hosted Helyx and Helyx Self-Hosted. Gameplay uses the packaged database catalogue and does not call an external trivia provider.

What it does

Members can choose a category, difficulty, niche preference, Multiple Choice, Guess, or True or False. Each answer updates the same ephemeral response. Least-recently-used catalogue rotation reduces repeats without creating member play history.

Buttons and Guess modals are bound to an expiring user session. The shared command adapter performs the initial acknowledgement; the module sends the resulting ephemeral response without acknowledging the interaction twice.

Starting a round uses the trivia command policy. Each final answer separately rechecks the open-by-default trivia.answer participation operation before reading or advancing the bound round session.

Dashboard configuration

Managers set default category, difficulty, question type, niche preference, and answer window. The module can be enabled before settings are saved. Members can override applicable defaults when starting a round.

Discord requirements

Trivia needs only the normal interaction response path where commands are used. It does not require Administrator, Message Content, Server Members, Manage Messages, or Manage Roles.

Data, privacy and retention

Question controls, bounded question IDs, outcome booleans, and member binding use the shared expiring session service. Guess text is compared locally and never stored. Aggregate statistics contain no selected answer, answer text, or question content. Privacy access and erasure cover the declared session and aggregate subject references.

Operations and failure behavior

Versioned migrations install and reconcile the packaged question snapshot. A committed answer remains successful if optional Logging, achievement scheduling, or aggregate statistics later fail; those post-commit paths use bounded safe logs and idempotency. Health verifies the required configuration, records, scheduler, secure-random, session, and resource-authorization services.
