Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

URL redirects for Medusa v2 — admin CRUD, bulk import, and a store endpoint for Next.js middleware.

@hollowpoint-io/medusa-plugin-redirects

URL redirects for Medusa v2. Medusa has no redirects primitive — this plugin is the store of truth.

Authored by Billy Mahmood. Maintained by Hollowpoint. MIT licensed.

Install

npm install @hollowpoint-io/medusa-plugin-redirects
// medusa-config.ts
module.exports = defineConfig({
  plugins: [
    {
      resolve: "@hollowpoint-io/medusa-plugin-redirects",
      options: {
        // Optional. Used to collapse same-host absolute destinations
        // when detecting redirect chains/loops.
        primary_domain: "example.com",
      },
    },
  ],
})

Then run migrations:

npx medusa db:migrate

Built and tested against Medusa >=2.17 <3.

What you get

  • Admin page URL Redirects — search, add, edit, disable, delete
  • POST /admin/redirects/bulk — { redirects: [...], source? }
  • GET /store/redirects — full active set, or ?path= for one lookup
  • Shopify-style provenance (shopify / manual / import)

Storefront

Do not hit the database on every request. Fetch the set at build or in middleware and cache it:

// Next.js middleware / next.config redirects()
const res = await fetch(`${BACKEND_URL}/store/redirects`)
const { redirects } = await res.json()
// [{ from: "/old", to: "/new", status: 301 }, ...]

GET /store/redirects?path=/old/ also matches trailing-slash and query permutations.

Options

| Option | Type | Default | Notes | |---|---|---|---| | primary_domain | string | unset | Hostname whose absolute to_path URLs are treated as on-site for chain/loop detection |

API

| Method | Path | Notes | |---|---|---| | GET | /admin/redirects | ?q=&status=active\|inactive&limit=&offset= | | POST | /admin/redirects | upsert one by from_path | | DELETE | /admin/redirects/:id | | | GET | /admin/redirects/stats | totals, chains, loops | | POST | /admin/redirects/bulk | { redirects, source? } | | GET | /store/redirects | full set or ?path= |

Develop

npm install
npm test
npm run build # medusa plugin:build
npm run dev # medusa plugin:develop (yalc watch)

Need this installed and wired on a live Medusa store? Hollowpoint does Medusa migrations and plugin work.
