Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.2.1

Published

houserules plugin: Three.js authoring patterns, with opt-in Threlte and React Three Fiber guides.

Readme

@houserules/plugin-three

npm

An agent writing Three.js reaches for a wrapper object around a scene graph node instead of extending the class directly, and allocates a new Vector3 inside the render loop instead of reusing one at module scope. Neither mistake throws. Both show up later as a garbage-collector stall or a scene graph that fights the library instead of using it, well after the code that caused it has been forgotten.

This plugin ships the Three.js extension-pattern rule that catches those before they ship, as a rule the agent loads only when the Three.js layer is in the working set.

Install

pnpm add -D @houserules/plugin-three
pnpm exec houserules init

Requires @houserules/cli. init is what writes the module into .claude/. This module is off by default, so select it when init asks.

Modules

  • three installs .claude/rules/three.md, a path-scoped rule covering Three.js extension patterns: extend Three.js classes directly rather than wrapping them, pre-allocate temporaries at module scope, BatchedMesh or InstancedMesh past a few dozen objects, custom BufferGeometry via typed-array attributes, custom shaders, overriding raycast when the default bounds test is wrong, disposing GPU resources and deciding which layer owns that, and rendering on demand rather than every frame.

Scoped to **/three/**, **/*.three.ts, **/*.glsl, and **/*.wgsl through its paths: frontmatter, so it loads only when the Three.js layer is in the working set. Keep that frontmatter. A rule file without paths: is loaded on every turn.

Two pull-only references install with it unconditionally, because the rule body links them and a link to a file nothing installed fails houserules doctor:

    • three-upstream-docs.md: pointers to the upstream llms.txt docs, plus upgrade discipline for Three.js and Threlte.
    • three-debugging.md: read when a render is already broken. Symptom to cause, bisecting by substitution, the helper objects, webglcontextlost, and runtime capability detection.

Takes an option for framework binding guides, both off by default since neither is true of a repo the installer knows nothing about:

    • threlte: the Svelte binding residue, <T> and <T is={obj} />, useTask, useThrelte.
    • r3f: the React binding residue, useFrame, useThree, <primitive object={obj} />, useMemo for geometry and material, and disposal.
    • performance: a pull-only renderer performance reference, read when a frame budget is the problem rather than loaded on every matching turn.

Each guide's paths: is a strict subset of the base rule's **/three/**, so a guide never loads on a file where the base rule is absent. Widening the base rule's paths: means widening an installed guide's the same way.

Part of houserules

houserules is a portable set of Claude Code infrastructure that keeps the agent's context lean. This is one of twelve first-party plugins. The package list has the rest.
