Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Coding agent CLI with read, bash, edit, write tools and session management

Upstream Pi automatically closes new issues and PRs from new contributors; see its contribution policy.

HUMAIN Code CLI

HUMAIN Code CLI is a minimal, extensible AI agent for the terminal. Adapt it to your workflow. Customize it with extensions, skills, prompt templates, and themes. Bundle them as HUMAIN Code CLI packages and share via npm or git.

Use HUMAIN Code CLI interactively, automate it in print or JSON mode, control it over RPC, or build applications with the TypeScript SDK.

The built-in subagent tool discovers user agents in ~/.humain-terminal/agent/agents and, when requested, project-local agents in .humain-terminal/agents. Project-local agents are repository-controlled: untrusted interactive projects require a per-call confirmation, while trusted projects use the existing project-trust decision without prompting again.

HUMAIN Code CLI runs in five modes: interactive, print or JSON, RPC, host-managed agent-exec, and an SDK for embedding in your own apps.

Getting started

Install the command-line interface with npm:

npm install -g --ignore-scripts @humain/humain-code

This requires Node.js 22.22.2 or newer. HUMAIN Code CLI does not require dependency lifecycle scripts for a normal npm installation.

On macOS and Linux, Nix users can build and run HUMAIN Code CLI from this checkout with nix run ..

Start HUMAIN Code CLI in the directory where you want it to work:

cd /path/to/project
humain-code

The humain-code CLI is also available through the humain-code-cli, hc, hcc, ht, and humain aliases. The old humain-terminal command still works but is deprecated. The npm package is @humain/humain-code (formerly @humain/terminal). The .humain-terminal config directory and HUMAIN_TERMINAL_* environment variables are unchanged.

See the documentation for full setup and usage instructions.

Development

Clone the repository, install its dependencies, and run the development build:

git clone https://gitlab.humain.com/humain/data-and-ai-modeling/standard/agentic/humain-terminal.git
cd humain-terminal
npm install --ignore-scripts
./humain-terminal-test.sh

humain-terminal-test.sh can be called from any directory and preserves the caller's working directory.

Before submitting changes, run:

npm run check
./test.sh

For HUMAIN Code CLI contribution instructions, see CONTRIBUTING.md and Development. Upstream Pi contributions follow the linked upstream CONTRIBUTING.md and AGENTS.md.

HUMAIN Code CLI also bundles web access and an MCP adapter and supports HUMAIN Node and Forge/DeployNow integrations. See HUMAIN Code CLI for those fork-specific workflows.
