Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Minecraft and GTA-style MapLibre map themes for web apps

Readme

sickmaps

MapLibre themes that mimic Minecraft world maps and GTA in-game minimaps. Restyle any compatible vector basemap (OpenFreeMap by default) and wrap the map container with optional HUD CSS.

Install

npm install @iantroisi/sickmaps maplibre-gl

From GitHub (builds on install):

npm install github:Cincinnatus101010/sickmaps

Themes

| Theme | Vibe | Default camera | |--------|------|----------------| | minecraft | Block textures, biome blocks, extruded builds, chunk grid | 45° pitch | | gta-sa | San Andreas–style flat minimap, muted roads | Top-down | | gta-v | GTA V–style HUD map | Top-down |

Quick start

import maplibregl from "maplibre-gl";
import "maplibre-gl/dist/maplibre-gl.css";
import { createGameMap } from "@iantroisi/sickmaps";
import "@iantroisi/sickmaps/css";

const map = await createGameMap(maplibregl, {
  theme: "minecraft",
  container: "map",
  center: [-74.02, 40.72],
  zoom: 12,
});

Minecraft rendering

The minecraft theme applies a dedicated style pass (biome block colors, 3D buildings, no raster terrain) plus runtime enhancements:

import {
  loadGameMapStyle,
  getMinecraftPixelRatio,
  installMinecraftEnhancements,
  decorateMapContainer,
} from "@iantroisi/sickmaps";
import "@iantroisi/sickmaps/css";

decorateMapContainer("map", "minecraft");
const style = await loadGameMapStyle("minecraft");
const map = new maplibregl.Map({
  container: "map",
  style,
  pixelRatio: getMinecraftPixelRatio(),
  pitch: 45,
  antialias: false,
});
map.on("load", () => installMinecraftEnhancements(map));

Zoom in (≈14+) to see the 16-block chunk grid.

API

| Export | Purpose | |--------|---------| | createGameMap(maplibregl, options) | Map + theme + CSS classes (+ Minecraft runtime when theme is minecraft) | | loadGameMapStyle(theme, options?) | Fetch base style and apply theme | | applyGameMapTheme(style, theme) | Pure style transform (no fetch) | | installMinecraftEnhancements(map) | Block textures, patterns, chunk grid | | getMinecraftPixelRatio() | Chunky canvas DPI for Minecraft | | decorateMapContainer(el, theme) | HUD CSS classes on container | | PALETTES, THEME_DEFAULTS | Theme tuning |

Publishing (same flow as steddy)

  1. On TroisiUI, run Actions → Copy NPM_TOKEN to steddy and sickmaps (needs NPM_TOKEN + CROSS_REPO_GITHUB_TOKEN repo secrets).
  2. Push to sickmaps main — CI runs, then Publish npm publishes @iantroisi/sickmaps with provenance.

Manual publish: Actions → Publish npm → Run workflow on this repo.
