Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Share signed iOS and Android builds over a temporary HTTPS tunnel

remote-installer

Run the macOS remote-installer CLI without installing a Rust toolchain:

npx --yes @icodesign/remote-installer share /path/to/MyApp.ipa
# or a signed standalone Android APK
npx --yes @icodesign/remote-installer share /path/to/MyApp.apk

To keep the link alive after an AI agent command or turn exits, use the launchd-managed background mode with a finite expiry:

npx --yes @icodesign/remote-installer share /path/to/MyApp.ipa \
  --background --expire-after 30m --json

The ready result includes a share ID. The same npx --yes @icodesign/remote-installer prefix can be used with status <id>, logs <id>, and stop <id>. Once startup completes, the native worker no longer depends on Node.js or the invoking terminal.

By default, the command detects the Tailscale and cloudflared CLIs and starts every provider available on this Mac in parallel. It warns about providers that are unavailable or not ready. To keep the install page private to the tailnet, select Tailscale Serve explicitly:

npx --yes @icodesign/remote-installer share /path/to/MyApp.ipa \
  --provider tailscale-serve

Use --provider tailscale-funnel for a public Tailscale link. The older --provider tailscale spelling remains an alias for Funnel. Install the Tailscale app separately; --tailscale-bin can point to a non-standard CLI location. --https-port selects the Tailscale HTTPS port, and --funnel-port remains a visible compatibility alias.

Cloudflare and Funnel expose only the selected staged build at an opaque artifact URL; they do not expose the source tree or a browsable directory. The build stays on the Mac and disappears from the share when the process stops. Anyone who learns the full public URL can still forward or download it, so use --expire-after and --max-downloads when a bounded share is appropriate.

The package carries arm64 and x86_64 macOS binaries and selects the matching one at startup. It supports signed iOS device builds and signed standalone Android APKs; it is not a Simulator installer and does not currently provide binaries for other host operating systems.
