Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A powerful React state management library with debugging capabilities

Readme

usereactstate

A powerful, type-safe React state management library with built-in debugging capabilities and data fetching support.

Features

  • 🔄 Type-safe State Management: Built with TypeScript for complete type safety
  • 🐛 Built-in Debugging: Includes a visual debugger for state changes
  • 🔍 Fine-grained Updates: Optimized for performance with path-based updates
  • 📡 Data Fetching: Integrated with React Query for seamless data management
  • 🎨 UI Utilities: Includes utility functions for class name management
  • 🔌 Plugin System: Extensible architecture for custom functionality

Installation

npm install usereactstate
# or
yarn add usereactstate

Quick Start

import { StateProvider, useStateValue } from 'usereactstate';

function App() {
  return (
    <StateProvider initialState={{ user: { name: 'John' } }}>
      <UserProfile />
    </StateProvider>
  );
}

function UserProfile() {
  const [user, setUser] = useStateValue('user');

  return (
    <div>
      <h1>Welcome, {user.name}!</h1>
      <button onClick={() => setUser({ ...user, name: 'Jane' })}>
        Change Name
      </button>
    </div>
  );
}

Core Concepts

State Provider

The StateProvider component is the root of your state management system:

<StateProvider
  initialState={{ /* your initial state */ }}
  debug={true} // Enable debugging
>
  {/* Your app components */}
</StateProvider>

State Management Hooks

useStateValue

Get and set state values with type safety:

const [value, setValue] = useStateValue<string>('path.to.value');

useStateWatch

Watch state changes without the ability to modify:

const value = useStateWatch<string>('path.to.value');

useStore

Access the entire store context:

const { state, setState, mergeState } = useStore();

useEntireStore

Get the complete state object:

const state = useEntireStore();

Debugging

Enable the debug mode and use the StateDebugger component:

import { StateProvider, StateDebugger } from 'usereactstate';

function App() {
  return (
    <StateProvider debug={true}>
      <StateDebugger />
      {/* Your app components */}
    </StateProvider>
  );
}

Data Fetching

The library includes a query client for data fetching:

import { queryClient } from 'usereactstate';

// Use in your components
const data = await queryClient.get('/api/data');

Advanced Usage

State Paths

State paths can be specified as strings or arrays:

// Both are equivalent
const [value] = useStateValue('user.profile.name');
const [value] = useStateValue(['user', 'profile', 'name']);

Performance Optimization

The library is optimized for performance with:

  • Path-based updates
  • Memoized selectors
  • Batched updates
  • Minimal re-renders

Type Safety

Full TypeScript support with generics:

interface User {
  name: string;
  age: number;
}

const [user, setUser] = useStateValue<User>('user');
