Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MCP server for any Sisu (Funidata) student information system: attainments, study rights, enrolments, timetables, plans, and the course catalogue

Readme

@ink-waffle/sisu-mcp

Use Sisu from an MCP client: study rights, attainments, grades, enrolments, timetable, study plan, and course catalogue. It is read-only.

Install

Configure this MCP in your MCP client (Claude Code, Windsurf, Cursor, Zed, OpenCode, or any other MCP-capable editor/agent):

mcp add sisu -- npx -y @ink-waffle/sisu-mcp

(Assuming mcp is your client's MCP client management CLI — adjust for your editor.)

Ask your agent to run sisu_connect giving it your sisu url, e.g sisu.tuni.fi. Log in in the browser tab if asked. The server stores the session locally and renews its short-lived access automatically.

Tools

| tool | use it for | |---|---| | sisu_connect, sisu_status, sisu_disconnect | connect and manage sites | | sisu_studies, sisu_attainments | see your study status and grades | | sisu_enrolments, sisu_calendar | see enrolments and timetable | | sisu_plan | read your study plan | | sisu_search, sisu_course | search and inspect the course catalogue | | sisu_call, sisu_endpoints | make read-only API requests and discover available paths |

Shared browser

This MCP is designed to run beside @ink-waffle/aplus-mcp and @ink-waffle/moodle-mcp. All three use the sibling @ink-waffle/study-browser package when browser access is needed.

By default it creates and reuses one isolated Chrome profile:

~/.chrome-profiles-mcp/study-automation-profile

It starts Chrome with a local CDP endpoint when necessary. Sibling MCP processes reuse that browser instead of starting conflicting copies. The browser stays open until you close it.

Works on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Alternative setups

One HTTP server, many clients

# Run as a persistent service (systemd, Windows Service, launchd, etc.):
npx -y @ink-waffle/sisu-mcp --port 8935
# Then configure your MCP client to connect via HTTP:
mcp add --transport http sisu http://127.0.0.1:8935/mcp

Your own Chrome

npx -y @ink-waffle/sisu-mcp --cdp http://127.0.0.1:9222

The MCP only attaches to an explicit CDP endpoint; it never starts or closes that browser. Use SISU_MCP_CDP instead of --cdp with a service manager.

Local data

Session data and cached results live in ~/.sisu-mcp/. Treat config.json as a password file.
