Patchwork Skills
Agent skills for building Patchwork tools.
Install
With no directory, the installer finds every agent installed under your home directory and installs into each:
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills installOtherwise pass the directory your agent loads skills from. Either way the installer copies
the skills there and clones patchwork-base and patchwork-experiments into the
writing-patchwork-tools skill as a corpus of real example tools:
Claude Code
global
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install ~/.claude/skillsin project
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install .claude/skillsCursor
global
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install ~/.cursor/skillsin project
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install .cursor/skillsCodex
global
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install ~/.codex/skillsin project
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install .codex/skillspi
global
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install ~/.pi/agent/skillsin project
npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills install .pi/skillsAgents that follow the agent-skills standard also read
.agents/skills. For any other agent, pass whatever directory it reads skills from.
To update, run the same command again (npx @inkandswitch/patchwork-skills@latest install …
if npx serves you a stale cached version).
Skills
| Skill | Description |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| writing-patchwork-tools | Build, scaffold, or modify a Patchwork tool, datatype, or action: plugin registration, the render contract, the datatype lifecycle, bundleless vs bundled builds, styling/theming, and common gotchas. The installer ships patchwork-base and patchwork-experiments checkouts with the skill as a corpus of real example tools. |
| working-with-automerge | Model, read, and mutate Automerge documents: the data model and JS type mapping, mutation rules that merge well, collaborative text, counters, conflicts, and splitting state across linked documents. |
| setting-up-automerge-repo | Set up an automerge-repo outside Patchwork (scripts, tests, servers, standalone apps): the subduction fork and its version pinning, wasm init order, storage adapters, and clean shutdown. |
Adding a skill
Create skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md with YAML frontmatter containing a name (lowercase,
hyphens) and a description that says what the skill does and when an agent should reach
for it. The body holds the instructions.
