Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Secure local MCP adapter for JealousMetal

Readme

JealousMetal MCP Client

@jealousmetal/mcp-client is a local stdio adapter for the protected JealousMetal MCP service. It requires Node.js 24 or later and supports macOS, Windows, and Linux systems with an available operating-system credential store.

Install and configure

Use a pinned package version in MCP client configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jealousmetal": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["--yes", "@jealousmetal/[email protected]", "connect", "--environment", "staging"]
    }
  }
}

The selected environment supplies the fixed endpoint and built-in JealousMetal sign-in configuration. Do not put access tokens, refresh tokens, client secrets, or npm credentials in MCP configuration.

Authenticate

Run login before connecting:

npx --yes @jealousmetal/[email protected] login --environment staging

The CLI displays a JealousMetal verification code and opens the sign-in page. Complete sign-in in the browser, then return to the terminal while the CLI securely polls for the result. Refresh tokens are stored per environment in macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or the Linux Secret Service. The CLI never writes tokens to stdout.

No callback URL or user-supplied sign-in configuration is required.

Use local for http://localhost:9030/mcp and staging for https://jealousmetal-mcp.stage.naish.io/mcp. No other environment or endpoint can be selected.

When running the client from this repository's source workspace, build it and use its local script instead of npx:

npm run build --workspace=@jealousmetal/mcp-client
npm run cli --workspace=@jealousmetal/mcp-client -- login --environment staging

To remove the saved credential:

npx --yes @jealousmetal/[email protected] logout --environment staging

Inspect authorization

Inspect the claims used to authorize the current login without printing the access or refresh token:

npx --yes @jealousmetal/[email protected] debug --environment staging

The command refreshes the saved login when necessary and prints the token subject, issuer, audience, expiry, and granted scopes and permissions.

Command help

List the supported commands and arguments:

npx --yes @jealousmetal/[email protected] help

Maintainer release

Releases are manually dispatched from .github/workflows/mcp-client-publish.yml.
