Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Shared tsdown configuration

Readme

@kcconfigs/tsdown

Shared tsdown configuration with a typed defineConfig helper and composable plugins for common package build setups.

Prerequisites

  • tsdown as a peer dependency

Optional peer dependencies used by specific checks/features:

  • publint
  • @arethetypeswrong/core
  • unplugin-unused
  • unrun

Installation

pnpm add --save-dev tsdown @kcconfigs/tsdown

Install optional peers only when you use related features:

pnpm add --save-dev publint @arethetypeswrong/core unplugin-unused unrun

Usage

Quick start

Create tsdown.config.ts:

import { defineConfig } from "@kcconfigs/tsdown";
import { entryPlugin, nodePlugin } from "@kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins";

export default defineConfig({}, entryPlugin(["./src/index.ts"]), nodePlugin());

Default behavior

defineConfig() starts from an internal base config and appends internal normalizers. Current defaults include:

  • entry: ./src/index.ts with test/example excludes
  • platform: "neutral"
  • outDir: "dist"
  • clean: true
  • minify: true
  • failOnWarn: true
  • publint.enabled: true (warning level)
  • unused.enabled: true (warning level; checks dependencies and peerDependencies)
  • attw.enabled: true

Plugins

You can import plugins from @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins or direct subpaths like @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins/node.

| Plugin | Import | Description | | ------ | ------ | ----------- | | attwPlugin(config) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Configure attw (@arethetypeswrong/core) options | | browserPlugin() | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Set platform to browser | | cssPlugin(option?) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Build CSS/SCSS entry as index.css with ESM output | | debugPlugin() | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Disable minification and set debug env flags | | depsPlugin(config) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Configure dependency externalization via deps | | dtsPlugin(config) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Configure declaration generation (dts) | | entryPlugin(entry, useDefault?) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Override entries and optionally append default excludes | | formatPlugin(format) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Configure output formats | | nodePlugin() | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Set platform to node | | outputPlugin(outDir) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Override output directory | | overridePlugin(...configs) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Merge additional tsdown config objects | | publintPlugin(config) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Configure publint checks | | unusedPlugin(config) | @kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins | Configure unused dependency checks |

Examples

Node package build with custom output and unused dependency ignore list:

import { defineConfig } from "@kcconfigs/tsdown";
import {
  entryPlugin,
  nodePlugin,
  outputPlugin,
  unusedPlugin,
} from "@kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins";

export default defineConfig(
  {},
  entryPlugin(["./src/index.ts", "./src/cli.ts"]),
  nodePlugin(),
  outputPlugin("dist"),
  unusedPlugin({
    ignore: ["publint", "@arethetypeswrong/core", "unplugin-unused", "unrun"],
  }),
);

CSS-only package build:

import { defineConfig } from "@kcconfigs/tsdown";
import { cssPlugin } from "@kcconfigs/tsdown/plugins";

export default defineConfig({}, cssPlugin({ lang: "scss" }));
