Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@kelvinlouis/mite-cli

Read-only CLI for querying mite.de time tracking data, designed for LLM agent consumption.

Features

  • Privacy-first: real names replaced with configurable abbreviations
  • No financial data leaked (revenue, rates, budgets stripped)
  • Plain markdown table output for easy LLM parsing
  • Two key workflows: team weekly summaries and per-user time entries

Installation

npm install -g @kelvinlouis/mite-cli

Development Setup

npm install
npm run build
npm link # symlinks the package globally — exposes the `mite` command for local dev and makes it callable by agents

Configuration

# Initialize with your mite credentials
mite init --api-key <your-api-key> --account <subdomain>

# Map entities to abbreviations
mite config set-user 219528 xyz
mite config set-customer 179138 XYZ
mite config set-project 88309 XYZ_abc

Teams

Define named teams of user IDs so you can run summaries and entries for your whole team without specifying IDs each time.

# Create a team with initial members
mite team create frontend 219528 219529 219530

# Manage members
mite team add frontend 219531
mite team remove frontend 219530

# List all teams
mite team list

# Delete a team
mite team delete frontend

Usage

# List entities
mite users
mite customers
mite projects
mite services

# Weekly summary (defaults to this_week)
mite summary
mite summary --at last_week
mite summary --at last_week --user 219528
mite summary --user "Hans" # resolve user by name
mite summary --user "Hans,219529" # mix names and IDs
mite summary --team frontend
mite summary --group-by customer,project

# Time entries for a user or team (accepts IDs or names)
mite entries --user 219528
mite entries --user 219528 --at last_week
mite entries --user 219528 --from 2024-01-01 --to 2024-01-31
mite entries --team frontend
mite entries --team frontend --at last_week
mite entries --user 219528 --note "meeting" # filter by note text
mite entries --user 219528 --empty-note # show entries with empty notes

# Show real names instead of aliases (financial data stays hidden)
mite users --dangerously-skip-alias
mite entries --user 219528 --dangerously-skip-alias

--team and --user are mutually exclusive on both summary and entries.

Development

npm test # Run tests (watch mode)
npm run test:run # Run tests once
npm run build # Build to dist/
npm run format # Format with prettier
