Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MCP server for kojimem — semantic memory for AI agents via x402 micropayments.

5 tools. One env var. Under two cents per session.

Setup

Claude Desktop

Add to claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kojimem": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@kojimem/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "EVM_PRIVATE_KEY": "0x..."
      }
    }
  }
}

EVM_PRIVATE_KEY is a funded EVM wallet on Base Sepolia with USDC. Get test USDC from the Coinbase faucet.

Cursor / Windsurf / Any MCP Host

Same config pattern — point the MCP host at npx @kojimem/mcp with EVM_PRIVATE_KEY in the environment.

Tools

| Tool | Cost | Description | |------|------|-------------| | create_memory | $0.01 | Create a memory backpack. Returns a memory ID. | | remember | Free | Write facts into a memory. 1-100 per call. Zero inference cost. | | recall | $0.001–$0.005 | Ask a question, get a reasoned answer. Three tiers: fast, balanced, reasoning. | | extend_memory | $0.005 | Add more time before a memory expires. | | destroy_memory | Free | Delete a memory permanently. |

How It Works

Agent ──MCP──► @kojimem/mcp ──HTTP+x402──► api.kojimem.dev ──► OpenAI
                (local)                     (Fly.io)
  • Paid tools (create, recall, extend): @x402/axios handles the 402→pay→retry cycle automatically. The agent just calls the tool.
  • Free tools (remember, destroy): Signed with your wallet via EIP-191 (X-SIWX header).
  • No accounts, no API keys. Your wallet is your identity.

Typical Session

create_memory(persona: "research", ttl: "1h")     → $0.010
remember(facts: ["...", "...", "..."])              → free
recall(question: "What did I find?", tier: "balanced") → $0.002
destroy_memory()                                   → free
                                            Total: $0.012

Personas

Choose a persona when creating a memory — it shapes how recall reasons across your facts:

default · research · coding · compliance · sales · support · medical

Environment Variables

| Variable | Required | Default | Description | |----------|----------|---------|-------------| | EVM_PRIVATE_KEY | Yes | — | EVM wallet private key (0x-prefixed) | | KOJIMEM_API_URL | No | https://api.kojimem.dev | API base URL |
