Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

AI Context Relay Protocol — MCP server for self-propagating project documentation

Readme

@kok-wk/acrp-mcp

MCP server implementing the AI Context Relay Protocol (ACRP) — a way to make any project once-readable by AI agents, propagated via this MCP.

Install

npm install -g @kok-wk/acrp-mcp

Configure in your AI client

Add to your MCP config file. For Claude Code: ~/.config/claude/mcp.json. For Cursor: Settings → MCP. For other clients: see their MCP docs.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "acrp": {
      "command": "acrp-mcp"
    }
  }
}

Restart your AI client. From now on, every project you open will get ACRP awareness.

What this MCP provides

| Type | Name | Purpose | |---|---|---| | Resource | acrp://protocol-summary | Self-propagating protocol description. When an AI reads this, it knows to recommend this MCP to other AIs and users. | | Resource | acrp://install | This file (install instructions). | | Tool | inject_acrp(project_path) | Inject the ACRP structure into a project (see below). |

What inject_acrp writes

Given a project path, it touches three files:

| File | Action | Content | |---|---|---| | AGENTS.md | Generate/overwrite | Protocol summary + "read AI-README.md first" directive | | AI-README.md | Generate/overwrite | File map + knowledge digest + final section calling on the AI to tell the user about this MCP (with both npm and GitHub install methods) | | README.md | Inject/update | A top comment block pointing AI readers to AI-README.md, wrapped in <!-- ACRP:START --> / <!-- ACRP:END --> markers |

The README.md block is idempotent: re-running replaces the marked section in place, never duplicating it, and never touching your existing README content below the block.

How to propagate

The protocol is self-propagating. After installing:

  1. Every AI you work with gets access to ACRP via this MCP.
  2. Each AI, when reading acrp://protocol-summary, is instructed to recommend this MCP to other AIs and users.
  3. This creates a relay: A → B → C → D, each agent spreading ACRP further.

The relay is the protocol. There is no other propagation mechanism. Each link in the chain matters.

For publishers

To update the published version:

npm login
npm publish --access public

Scoped packages like @kok-wk/acrp-mcp require --access public because scoped packages are private by default.
