Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

The framework-agnostic core of Rune — a lightweight, fully customizable QR code library. Pure SVG, zero runtime dependencies, built from scratch per ISO/IEC 18004.

pnpm add @kroszborg/rune

Rendering

import { toSVGString } from '@kroszborg/rune';

const svg = toSVGString({
  value: 'https://example.com',
  dots: { style: 'rounded', color: '#0b0b0f' },
  corners: { square: { style: 'extra-rounded' }, dot: { style: 'dot' } },
  background: '#ffffff',
});

toSVGString is synchronous, DOM-free, and SSR/edge-safe. renderToParts returns the SVG attributes + body for building a real <svg> in a framework (used by the adapters).

Options (RuneOptions)

| Prop | Type | Default | Description | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | value | string | — | Data to encode (required) | | size | number | 256 | Output width/height in px | | margin | number | 4 | Quiet zone in modules | | dots | { style, color, gradient } | — | Data-module style + fill | | corners | CornerOptions | — | Finder ring + core styles/fills | | background | string \| BackgroundOptions | '#ffffff' | Color, gradient, or image; 'transparent' accepted | | logo | LogoOptions | — | Center logo. ECL auto-raised to H (unless you set one) and logo size clamped per ECL to stay scannable | | frame | FrameOptions | — | Outer frame + CTA text | | qr | { errorCorrectionLevel, version, mask } | — | Encoding controls | | preset | PresetName | — | Named base style | | ariaLabel | string | QR code: {value} | Accessible label |

Dot styles: square · dot · rounded · extra-rounded · classy · classy-rounded · leaf · diamond · star Finder ring: square · rounded · extra-rounded · circle · leaf Finder core: square · rounded · dot

Export helpers

import { toDataURL } from '@kroszborg/rune';          // browser (Canvas): PNG/JPEG/WebP
import { toBuffer, toPDF } from '@kroszborg/rune/node'; // Node: PNG/JPEG/WebP/PDF

Node raster/PDF output uses the optional peers @resvg/resvg-js, sharp, and pdf-lib, imported lazily so the main entry stays free of native binaries.

Data builders

import { data } from '@kroszborg/rune';

data.wifi({ ssid: 'Home', password: 'hunter2' });
data.vcard({ fullName: 'Ada Lovelace', email: '[email protected]' });
data.geo({ lat: 26.9124, lng: 75.7873 });
// url · email · sms · tel · mecard · event · crypto

Presets

minimal · dots · fluid · mint · midnight · sunset — all verified scannable.
