Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Lass CLI - compile .lass files to CSS

Readme

@lass-lang/cli

Command-line interface for compiling .lass files to CSS.

Installation

pnpm add -g @lass-lang/cli

Or use directly with npx:

npx @lass-lang/cli styles.lass

Usage

# Compile a file and output to stdout
lass styles.lass

# Compile a file to a specific output file
lass styles.lass dist/styles.css

# Compile all .lass files in a directory
lass src/styles/ --out dist/css/

# Read from stdin
echo ".box { color: blue; }" | lass --stdin

# Show help
lass --help

# Show version
lass --version

Options

| Option | Description | |--------|-------------| | -o, --out <dir> | Output directory (required for directory input) | | --stdin | Read input from stdin | | -h, --help | Show help message | | -v, --version | Show version number |

Examples

Single file compilation

# Output to stdout
lass button.lass

# Output to file
lass button.lass dist/button.css

Directory compilation

# Compile all .lass files in src/ to dist/
lass src/ --out dist/

# Preserves directory structure:
# src/components/button.lass -> dist/components/button.css
# src/pages/home.lass        -> dist/pages/home.css

Stdin/stdout pipeline

# Pipe content directly
echo ".card { padding: 16px; }" | lass --stdin

# Use with other tools
cat styles.lass | lass --stdin > styles.css

Programmatic API

The CLI also exports functions for programmatic use:

import { compileFile, compileString, compileDirectory } from '@lass-lang/cli';

// Compile a file
const css = await compileFile('styles.lass');

// Compile a string
const css = await compileString('.box { color: blue; }');

// Compile a directory
await compileDirectory('src/styles', 'dist/css');

API Reference

compileFile(inputPath: string): Promise<string>

Compiles a single .lass file and returns the CSS string.

compileString(source: string, filename?: string): Promise<string>

Compiles Lass source code from a string. The optional filename parameter is used for error messages (defaults to 'stdin.lass').

compileDirectory(inputDir: string, outputDir: string): Promise<void>

Compiles all .lass files in a directory recursively, writing corresponding .css files to the output directory while preserving the directory structure.

findLassFiles(dir: string): Promise<string[]>

Recursively finds all .lass files in a directory.

Requirements
