Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Effect observability layer for Lensflare local logs and traces.

Readme

@lensflare.dev/effect

Effect observability layer for Lensflare local logs and traces.

Install

pnpm add effect @lensflare.dev/effect

@lensflare.dev/effect follows Effect's version. Install matching versions unless a Lensflare-only hotfix release notes says otherwise.

For example:

pnpm add [email protected] @lensflare.dev/[email protected]

Lensflare-only emergency fixes use versions that still identify their target Effect release. During Effect beta releases, 4.0.0-beta.55-lensflare.1 targets [email protected]. For stable Effect releases, Lensflare hotfixes use the next patch version and keep the exact compatible Effect version in peerDependencies.

Usage

import { Effect } from "effect";
import { Lensflare } from "@lensflare.dev/effect";

const program = Effect.gen(function* () {
  yield* Effect.log("hello from Lensflare");
});

Effect.runPromise(program.pipe(Effect.provide(Lensflare.layer("dev"))));

Lensflare.layer(datasetSlug, options) composes Effect's OTLP logger and tracer layers and points them at a local Lensflare server. The layer enables itself by default outside production.

Options

  • enabled: force the layer on or off.
  • env: provide an explicit environment map instead of reading process.env.
  • environment: override environment detection.
  • serverOrigin: Lensflare server origin. Defaults to http://127.0.0.1:43110.
  • serviceName: service name resource attribute. Defaults to app.
  • serviceVersion: optional service version resource attribute.
  • resourceAttributes: additional resource attributes.
  • exportInterval: OTLP export interval.
  • maxBatchSize: maximum OTLP batch size.
  • shutdownTimeout: OTLP shutdown timeout.
  • mergeWithExistingLogger: merge with an existing logger layer. Defaults to true.

Environment Variables

  • LENSFLARE_ENABLED: force telemetry on or off. Accepts 1, true, yes, on, 0, false, no, or off.
  • LENSFLARE_DEV: enables Lensflare in development-style environments.
  • LENSFLARE_ORIGIN: Lensflare server origin.
  • LENSFLARE_SERVER_ORIGIN: alternate Lensflare server origin.
  • OTEL_SERVICE_NAME: service name.
  • OTEL_SERVICE_VERSION: service version.

API

import { Lensflare, layer, isEnabled, resolveLayerConfig } from "@lensflare.dev/effect";

The package is ESM-only and publishes TypeScript declarations.
